Dear Prospective Students,
My name is Daryl Mitchell, and my preferred name since childhood is just "Boo." I am a graduate of New York University's Broadcast Journalism and International Relations programs and River University's Certificate of Ministry program in Tampa, Florida. I believe my prior work and educational experience has prepared me to be a suitable candidate for this role.
My NYU Journalism coursework and production internship opportunities provided me with quality experience in communicating and working with hosts, guests, talent and audience members. I also performed written, audio, and video content creation and editing for many multimedia assignments and tasks, including faith-based and nonprofit-centered writing, SEO content creation, social media management, and website, podcast, and video work on platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Snapchat, WordPress and additional content management systems. As Denver Rescue Mission's Public Relations and Events intern, I assisted the Public Relations and Media Specialist with content creation and publishing for the organization's social media pages and interacting with media entities, donors, corporate sponsors, and program participants to positively represent the Mission through social channels and other forms of direct communication.
As the office coordinator for the Mission's Development department, I supported both the Communications and Relational Giving teams in various administrative tasks, including appointment scheduling, event planning, donor communication through phone, email and mail, donor database management with Raiser's Edge and Salesforce software, and content organization using Microsoft Office programs. This coordinator role required that I apply a high level of deadline and project management, detail, organization, initiative, and verbal, written, and audiovisual communication skills within limited time frames and that I learn to successfully navigate new software and systems quickly and efficiently.
After earning my Certificate of Ministry from River University, I wrote and edited weekly scripts and regularly produced shows for both journalistic and comedic content as Transformation Church's Programming Intern. When selected to continue as their Experience Project Manager Lead Intern, I supported the Experience Division Director with developing strategy and vision for the department's future and facilitated spiritual, leadership, and team-building trainings for the division's core team of leaders.
Once graduating from this internship, I assisted Made to Maximize with marketing and copywriting duties for a couple of months during a time of transition for their staff. These tasks included graphic design, writing and editing captions, strategic hashtag selection and usage, audience engagement in comment sections and direct messaging inboxes, and content planning, scheduling, and posting on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn for a total of sixteen client accounts. We utilized content management systems such as Asana, Canva, and Meta Business Suite, and our clients included nonprofit organizations, companies, and individuals with faith-based, cause-centered, and inspirational missions and voices.
I most recently worked as a full-time Media Technician for youth and adults at Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship, where I filled on-air camera roles as a host for several video installments and gained invaluable experience in lead production, live events, and youth ministry. In this next chapter of my career, I am passionate about applying all of these skills, experiences, and more to be of service to you, your family, and your dreams.
Thank you so much for your time and consideration, and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Best Regards,
Boo Mitchell
