What is your teaching philosophy?
Every student should be treated on an individual basis because no two students learn exactly the same way.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
I can ask the student questions to make sure that he/she grasps the concepts, give the student work to complete on their own, and find a topic within the subject area that interests the student.
How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?
I ask the students questions before they finish the passage. I make sure that they understand what they are reading and why it is important to make the sections more manageable.
How do you adapt your tutoring to the student's needs?
I base each session around the student and what they are struggling with. I am not afraid to put part of the lesson plan to the side if a student needs more time in a certain area.
What types of materials do you typically use during a tutoring session?
I typically use workbooks and prep books. If the student is elementary age, I will also bring in games and flashcards.
