Session Summaries by Anatomy Tutors

Anatomy Tutoring review by George in Chicago, IL
The student has a quiz, a test and a chapter test this week. She says she was able to answer questions in class today about the material we have been studying and most other students were not. We completed the study guide for the chapter test on muscles. She answered most items correctly and I had her refer to her notes/book for any questions she had slight difficulty explaining. She has a short quiz on Latin roots for terminology. Then she will have a test on sliding filament theory. She knows the basics. We will cover it in detail at our next study session on Wednesday.

We reviewed some of the material from last week and I helped explain a couple of points that he asked about after going over his notes in class. This mostly concerned nerve impulses and action potential. New material we reviewed consisted of basic gross anatomy (lobes and regions, interior anatomy) of the brain and brain stem and the major functions of those areas of the brain. We talked about certain brain disorders or injuries that are associated with damage to specific lobes of the brain.

Anatomy Tutoring review by David in Chicago, IL
Today the student and I reviewed content for her next lab/lecture test. She will need to be familiar with muscle, cartilage, bone and other connective tissue. There is a lot of memorization for this portion so it will be up to the student to use study methods to absorb the content. During sessions we are going over the study guide and I regularly quiz her on anatomy.

The student has an exam today. He initially had a lot of trouble with understanding the power stroke cycle involving actin and myosin. However, after going over it multiple times, he was able to understand it. Then we went over many examples of origin and insertion. Lastly we went over his chemistry homework in preparation for his chemistry exam.
