I graduated magna cum laude with my B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Brigham Young University. As an engineering student I learned how to solve difficult problems and how to explain my thought process to peers and professors.
My clients have ranged from middle school students who need help in physical science and pre-algebra to high school students preparing for the SAT or ACT and requiring tutoring in advanced chemistry and calculus. I have also tutored college students in general chemistry and college math through calculus.
My tutoring style varies based on the student's needs. However, for math and science I have found a successful style usually involves finding example, homework, or test problems the student did not understand. After identifying these problems I can review or teach the necessary concepts to the student, then go back and help the student solve the problems correctly. I love the help students understand concepts they struggled with previously! I think a lot of dislike among students for math and science comes from a lack of understanding of the subject.
Besides tutoring I also love music, specifically singing and playing the piano. I also enjoy playing sports such as volleyball, watching college sports, and playing board games with friends and family.
