Microbiology Tutoring review by Alex in Taylorsville, UT
The student and I finished reviewing for her biology final exam. We focused primarily on transcription, translation, and the cell cycle, and also touched on genetics. We relied primarily on her teacher's review materials, though we also developed a few materials which she could use on her own to assist on the exam.

On Wednesday, we reviewed the topic of ecology and environmental sciences including pollution, deforestation, and CO2 emissions. The student has a strong grasp on these subjects. She had questions on the concept of diffusion and osmosis, so we did a review of those subjects at the end of the session.

We went over Kirchhoff's laws for the analysis of DC circuits. We mostly went over the student's lecture notes, to make sure he had the laws down. He was doing very well. We also took a side detour into the operation of batteries. We worked out one circuit problem for practice. He really likes the topics we discuss.

Microbiology Tutoring review by Riffat in Taylorsville, UT
We continued prepping the student for his finals. We went over evolution, and I helped him complete a review crossword his teacher gave him. We had a few minutes remaining, so I started to review some basic math skills that he rated low on his self assessment. I asked him to answer the review questions his teacher gave him on immunology by our session on Sunday so we can review them. I will also be emailing his mom worksheets on basic math skills and a study guide on genes (by Saturday).

Microbiology Tutoring review by Kira in Taylorsville, UT
Today, the student worked on another practice SAT subject test. She did much better with time management and got a lot fewer problems wrong. She said the math was easier since she reviewed the stoichiometry section after last session. On the last practice test, she scored in the 650-680 range. Today, she scored in the 750-780 range, a 100 point increase. We spent the last 20 minutes doing a few more practice problems, on which she did well. She feels confident about taking the test, and her goal is to get a 700 or higher.
