Not only should we learn to live, but I believe we are to also live to learn. Having homeschooled my own children for 6 years, we learned by reading, hearing, feeling, doing, and experiencing. I follow the same philosophy when teaching students in my classrooms. My BA and MS degrees are in Education, Counseling, and Human Development. My teaching experience began when I was in high school as a teacher's aide in a class for children with hearing impairments and has continued in some capacity for MANY years. In the public school setting, my full-time experience includes every grade from Kinders-8th grade, and I have substitute taught classes K-12 as well as special education. Besides being a director of a preschool for children with various and multiple "abilities," I have been a director of a Day Program for adults, also with multiple and significant health, mental, and physical challenges. Most recently, I have taught 4+ years of online Elem/middle school classes including reading, grammar, diction, and pronunciation, public speaking, writing book reports, math, science, geography, and history.During Sep-Nov. 2020-21, while classes were held two days in person and virtually the other 3 days, I assisted 2 neighborhood children with their studies at home while their parents were at work. By November, the parents realized they were benefitting more from my personal attention and instruction, and hired me to homeschool them for the remainder of the year. In June 2021, the parents were pleased to tell me that each student tested at a step above their upcoming grade level.All of this to say, my heart is in teaching by connecting with my students, finding their interests and strengths, then using those to work in their areas of struggle. Conversation and feedback are always appreciated to best connect with and serve each student as an individual.

I was born in Colombia and moved to the United States at a young age where I grew up in a Spanish-speaking household. I attended Spanish classes every Saturday to master my grammar, orthography, and pronunciation. By the time I got to high school, I had learned virtually all I could, so I took four semesters of French instead.I graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with University Honors, where I received my Bachelor of Arts in French, German, and International Studies. As an undergraduate student, I spent two semesters abroad-- one in Lyon, France and one in Berlin, Germany, where I developed my language competencies.Upon return, I was accepted into an Early Entry graduate program, which I completed in Translating in Spanish, French, and German.During my graduate studies, I was recruited as a bilingual data consultant for Wells Fargo, where I contribute Spanish translation, guidance, and quality control to develop artificial intelligence through natural language processing.On the side, I also work as a Spanish interpreter for two regional language service agencies, facilitating communication between Spanish speakers and medical providers, community staff, and law enforcement officials to ensure mutual understanding, cultural sensitivity, and confidentiality.You'll notice the subjects I tutor are primarily foreign language related, since those are my areas of expertise in terms of education, experience, and passion.Prior to joining Varsity Tutors, I tutored children ages 3-5 to develop basic French vocabulary and sentence structure.I believe all students have natural gifts and aptitudes as well as curiosity. I also hold a second masters degree in construction management technology at Purdue University in the state of Indiana.I once lectured for 6 yrs in the civil engineering Dept.of Walter Sisulu University in South Africa.I have also run several seminars and workshops to over 40 engineering professionals in the area of project management and construction contract management.I am currently working as a program specialist managing a research grant at the college of engineering, purdue university in west Lafayette, IndianaI have tutored on this platform over 15 students towards the PMI-PMP, FE professional certification exams and other construction related subjects in the past 3 years and majority of them had passed.
