Session Summaries by Mandarin Chinese Tutors

Mandarin Chinese Tutoring review by Jun in Taylorsville, UT
In this session, I reviewed Lesson 11, Lesson 3 and Lesson 4 of her textbook. The student has improved pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar. The student's attitude toward the material was positive and took my class with many questions. At the end of my class, I recommended her to read and practice more.

Mandarin Chinese Tutoring review by China in Taylorsville, UT
The student and I spent the first part of today's session reenacting the class activity he did this week, in which he pretended to sell a property (a luxury apartment, and a trailer in a trailer park) and I asked questions about the property as an interested buyer. We covered a number of topics in the course of this conversation--rent, landlords, neighbors, parties, etc. Then we switched, and he told me about the kind of property he'd hypothetically be interested in buying. After this, we did a little bit of work on grammar. We reviewed nouns modified by phrases, which we did last week, and then we spent the rest of our time talking about the order of certain verbs. He did great today, he was very conversational and asked a lot of good questions about Mandarin. Good work again!

Mandarin Chinese Tutoring review by Zhan in Taylorsville, UT
We first warmed up with "five chess;" he improved by beating me in one round. I then checked his homework, and he made good improvement on the tone exercises. His homework completion is also better this time. After that, I tested him on his prep work on Lesson 3, Dialog 2, and his way of preparation and study technique still needs some work. We refreshed the steps on how to study and prepare, then I tested him on the materials from the previous lessons in which he only made two mistakes. The homework for today was to rewrite all the missed vocab, pre-study for Lesson 4, Dialog 1, and continue work on the flashcards.

Mandarin Chinese Tutoring review by Wenpei in Taylorsville, UT
We went over the use of grammar and reviewed several grammar rules that the student didn't feel confident with completely. I think she feel much better about those grammar concepts now. A couple of things I want to remind her are to keep up the character writing practice and review the basic grammar rules. The character writing will help with memorizing the characters/ vocabulary, and always stick to basic grammar rules when in doubt. I wish her best of luck in her exam!
