Varsity Tutors can set you up with a private San Diego NCLEX tutor or prep class that can help you prepare for your licensure exam. Passing the NCLEX is one of the most important steps you will take as a registered nurse or a practical nurse candidate, and anybody who is on this particular career path can benefit from a thorough review before they sit down for the exam. A San Diego NCLEX prep course or tutoring session will cover many of the concepts you may have learned as a student at schools like San Diego State University or California State University - San Marcos, but simply having the opportunity to review the material at your own pace and your own schedule can help you better understand it and ease any test anxiety that you might have.
What Material is Covered by San Diego NCLEX Prep?
The NCLEX, or National Council Licensure Examination, refers to two different licensure exams that are administered by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing, Inc. (NCSBN). One test is for registered nurse candidates, and the other is for practical nurses. Both exams are administered through Computerized Adaptive Testing, or CAT. Every time you answer a question, the computer estimates your ability based on how you answered the previous questions and on their difficulty. It then selects a question that you should have a 50 percent chance of answering correctly. The idea is to not make the exam too difficult or too easy and to gather as much information as possible about your true ability level. Registered nurse candidates can expect to answer between 75 and 265 questions while practical nurse candidates can expect to answer between 85 and 205 questions. You will have six hours to complete the NCLEX-RN as a registered nurse candidate, and five hours to complete the NCLEX-PN as a practical nurse candidate.
The NCLEX is divided into four different sections, each of which deals with a different facet of a client's needs. These four sections are Safe and Effective Care Environment, Health Promotion and Maintenance, Psychosocial Integrity, and Physiological Integrity. You will also need to understand concepts such as the Basic Nursing Process, Communication, Documentation, Teaching and Learning, and Culture and Spirituality. A San Diego NCLEX preparation course or private instruction can help you better understand these concepts and prepare you for taking the exam itself.
What are the Benefits of Each Type of San Diego NCLEX Prep?
Varsity Tutors can set you up with two different kinds of San Diego NCLEX prep. The first is an NCLEX prep course that you will take with other students in a virtual classroom, and the second is private instruction with a San Diego NCLEX tutor. Both types of preparation have their advantages, but while some candidates will opt for both types of preparation, most choose one over the other. If you decide to enroll in a San Diego NCLEX prep course, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with other students and an instructor in a virtual classroom. The other students will be studying the same material as you which can be helpful for anyone who learns better in a collaborative environment. If you need some extra help, you can also ask for a one-on-one meeting with the instructor. Since these courses are entirely online, you won't have to worry about commuting to a physical classroom. As long as you are somewhere with a stable Internet connection, you will be able to participate in the course. New prep course sections open up regularly, and you should be able to find a course that fits comfortably into your schedule.
If you think you would benefit more from one-on-one instruction, we can also set you up with a private instructor. These instructors will be able to provide you with their undivided attention and allow you to learn at your own pace. They will be able to tailor lessons to suit your learning style and focus on areas where you will need the most improvement. Private instruction might also provide you with more flexibility than other prep options can. Since there is no need to adhere to a class schedule at all, you will be able to schedule your study sessions with your instructor whenever it is the most convenient for you.
