I am interested in tutoring nurses online. For the past eleven years I have worked part-time in the online family nurse practitioner track at the masters level for the University of Alabama in Birmingham. I enjoy teaching online. I believe I have the necessary experience and interests to tutor across nursing programs. Students have responded well to my teaching and I have consistently scored well in student feedback surveys.
Teaching, especially online, is a particular interest to me. I worked with NLN to develop a position statement in 2008, Preparing the Next Generation of Nurses to Practice in a Technology-Rich Environment: An Informatics Agenda. My DNP research project completed as part of my DNP program at Case Western University, Web-Based Coaching in Nursing Education, helped expand my teaching approach to coaching students online.
Honestly, I think my past nursing, nurse practitioner, and faculty teaching experiences have prepared me for tutoring online. I have a strong clinical background and hold a certified nurse educator certification from the National League for Nursing. For the past thirteen years I have worked as a family nurse practitioner in rural Alabama in a pediatric clinic. I taught undergraduate nursing courses in pharmacology, critical care nursing, and informatics at Samford University previously.
