If you want to get more out of your GMAT studies, Varsity Tutors can enroll you in an Ann Arbor GMAT course designed to prepare students for test day. Many students in MBA programs describe the GMAT as one of the most comprehensive and challenging exams they've ever taken. There's a lot that goes into this test, and preparing for it by yourself can be a daunting experience to undertake on your own.
If you'd like to benefit from additional assistance, an Ann Arbor GMAT class is a great place to start. It allows you to learn in an online, collaborative environment with other peers preparing for business school. This makes for an excellent learning experience by allowing undergraduate students and working professionals to share knowledge and life experiences, overcome challenges, and work together to prepare for the upcoming exam.
But the Ann Arbor GMAT course isn't just an environment for students to come together. It also includes a qualified instructor who's there to help you and your peers strengthen your study habits and understand difficult concepts. This can give you a major advantage when applying to top business schools like the University of Michigan - Ross School of Business. Wherever you decide to do your MBA program, it's important that you do well on the GMAT because your test results can play a role in whether you'll be accepted into a program or not. Plus, your GMAT performance is also a good indicator of how you'll cope in an actual, fast-paced business environment. So, it's in your best interest to memorize the material and learn how to apply it outside of the classroom.
What could an Ann Arbor GMAT class help me review?
There are four sections of the GMAT that you'll need to prepare for: Quantitative Reasoning, Integrated Reasoning, Verbal Reasoning, and finally, the Analytical Writing Assessment. Each of these sections tests your ability in a different area of knowledge and how it relates to business. As one of the more comprehensive exams, the GMAT lasts 3.5 hours excluding optional breaks and consists of multiple-choice and essay questions. As you can imagine, preparing for this exam is challenging, which is why we recommend enrolling in an Ann Arbor GMAT class that offers in-depth coverage of each section mentioned below. Let's dig a little deeper into the structure of the test.
The Quantitative Reasoning portion of the test consists of 31 multiple-choice questions. These questions cover a number of different topics that look at your problem-solving skills, as well as your ability to interpret and apply data. You'll have 62 minutes to complete this section, so you want to make sure you're adequately prepared so that you don't run out of time before completing the section. Also, the Quantitative Reasoning portion of the exam tells business schools how well you are at problem-solving, mathematical reasoning, and reading graphical data. All of these skills are essential to succeeding in your MBA program and performing well in the business world, so you'll want to devote adequate time preparing for this section.
Next is the Integrated Reasoning section. Here, you're given 30 minutes to complete 12 complex questions. Many of these questions require more than one response, and answering correctly depends on your ability to extract data from multiple sources and apply that data, using logic and reason, to your answers. Many students admit they struggle with this portion of the exam because of its complex nature.
Verbal Reasoning looks at your command and understanding of English and how it's used in a business section. You're given 65 minutes to answer 36 multiple-choice questions evaluating your critical reasoning and reading comprehension. To pass this section of the exam, you need to be able to evaluate arguments, draw inferences, and solve problems using contextual clues within the sentences.
Finally, there's the Analytical Writing portion. As you've probably guessed, this section looks at how well you're able to express your thoughts, ideas, and arguments in written English. You only get 30 minutes for this section, so it's important for you to be able to organize your ideas and create a well-structured argument in that time. Also, keep in mind that your English skills are just one component that's assessed in this section. You'll also be graded on your knowledge and problem-solving skills, and how well you are able to practically apply what you learned during your studies.
How does an Ann Arbor GMAT course help me prepare?
First and foremost, a course gives you a platform to engage with peers and an experienced instructor. Instead of simply memorizing terms and answers, you're actually discussing their functions in an interactive online environment. For many students, that increases their likelihood of remembering important concepts. What's more, this course can also help you identify your strengths and weaknesses, so you know which areas to focus more on so that you receive a well-rounded education.
But reviewing information isn't the only benefit of an Ann Arbor GMAT course. You also gain an added level of convenience not available to in-person classes. The flexible nature of the course means that you can study around your schedule without having to worry about commute times or cramming a revision session into an already busy day. This can help reduce stress and anxiety, which can boost your confidence and make you feel more relaxed when it comes time to take the exam.
How can I find an Ann Arbor GMAT prep course?
Now that we've covered the benefits of the course, you need to decide if you're ready to get started. Are you someone who benefits from interactive, collaborating learning experiences structured around your existing schedule? If so, great! You've made an excellent choice, and we believe that this course will help set you up for success in business school and when you're working in the professional world.

My tutoring and teaching experience includes being a bootcamp Python and SQL instructor, teaching and tutoring a GMAT prep class, and tutoring math and computer programming in college. When I'm learning something for the first time, I try to break up what I don't know into approachable chunks. Then I work my way through each smaller block with a combination of reading, practice and reflection about how the chunk I'm working on fits into the bigger picture.
