If you're looking to sign your student up for Omaha ISEE prep, Varsity Tutors would be happy to get you started with the best ISEE preparation opportunities available. The ISEE, also known as the Independent School Entrance Exam, provides a fair measure of a student's achievement and reasoning skills. The skills on this exam are deemed to be important for student success at an independent school. The skills and content evaluated are based on the standards of leading educational organizations. Although the ISEE is not the only thing taken into account for admissions, it is still important for your student to prepare properly in order to showcase their potential. The right Omaha ISEE prep opportunity can help your student grow in both skills and confidence as he or she reviews for the exam.
What skills or topics can be covered in an Omaha ISEE prep course to help my student prepare for the ISEE?
The ISEE is split into different levels and your student will take the one appropriate for his or her grade level.
The Primary Level ISEEs are for students entering second, third, and fourth grade. At this Level, students take a Reading, Math, and unscored Writing assessment. Second-grade students also take an Auditory Comprehension assessment that requires them to listen to a passage and answer questions about it. Reading and Math questions will ask your student to showcase their mastery of grade-leaves appropriate skills in reading comprehension, vocabulary, and basic mathematical operations.
The Lower, Middle, and Upper Level ISEEs assess students on Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, Reading Comprehension, and Math Achievement. The length and time limits of these sections are the same across all Levels but vary in difficulty to make sure the questions are age- and grade-appropriate. Lower Level is for students entering fifth and sixth grade. Students starting seventh and eighth grade take the Middle Level ISEE. The Upper Level ISEE is for any student entering ninth through twelfth grade. Verbal Reasoning measures your student's English skills such as prefixes and suffixes or using context clues to answer questions. Quantitative Reasoning focuses on using mathematical solutions to solve problems. Reading Comprehension questions assess your student's ability to determine the main idea of provided passages or the use of figurative and literal language. The Math Achievement assessment is your student's opportunity to demonstrate his or her mastery of grade-level-appropriate math operations.
Each Level also writes an essay that is unscored. A copy of the Writing sample is sent to any school that receives the ISEE scores. This essay is an opportunity for your student to showcase his or her creative writing abilities and can give the admissions office an opportunity to learn more about the student who is applying. An ISEE can provide guided writing practice opportunities.
Maybe your student has already started preparing and needs extra help with a specific section or is just starting the review process and needs a thorough and comprehensive review. No matter where your student is at in the prep process, Varsity Tutors is here to help with efficient and effective review.
What are the benefits of different types of Omaha ISEE prep?
At Varsity Tutors, we are happy to be able to get your student started with two excellent review options. You have the opportunity to sign up for one of our online, interactive ISEE classes or be connected to a knowledgeable private ISEE coach. Either option can help your student study more effectively than might be possible alone. Each option does, however, come with a different set of advantages and benefits. Here we'll take a closer look at each opportunity.
If you are the parent of a student who learns best within a traditional classroom setting, an online Omaha ISEE prep class might be the right answer. Live class sessions can be accessed using an online learning platform, meaning your student can attend class anywhere with a computer and high-speed internet with no commute necessary. Classes begin each week and are offered in either 2-week or 4-week sessions so your student can get started immediately.
Our class sessions are held live and allow your student the opportunity to see, hear, and speak directly to the instructor as if in a typical classroom. Interaction between classmates in possible as well, providing the opportunity for group discussions and collaborative activities. For example, your student can have discussions with peers about the best ways to make inferences from a data set or how to use relevant details to add interest to a written piece. Activities such as peer editing to practice grammar, punctuation, and spelling or working together to convert fractions to decimal form can help your student retain the skills more easily. This option may be the best opportunity for students who enjoy a social learning environment.
Students who learn best when working at their own pace may wish to sign up to work with a private Omaha ISEE tutor. This allows your student to focus on the exact areas that need improvement instead of spending time practicing skills or content he or she has already learned and mastered. Lessons can be created with your student's personality, preferred learning system, and academic strengths and weaknesses in mind. For example, if your student is a visual learner, tutoring sessions can be supplemented with videos or infographics that present the information in a new way. This can help your student understand the material more fully and can make learning enjoyable.
You may even wish to sign your student up for both options. A private instructor can provide the opportunity to ask guided and gain immediate feedback while also receiving the benefits of collaborative activities. No matter if you want to get your student started with a class, private instructor, or both, we are here to help your student reach for his or her academic aspirations.
How can I sign my student up to get started with Omaha ISEE preparation?
Getting started is as simple and convenient as making a phone call. When you call to speak to one of our Educational Consultants, we'll make sure to help you decide between the prep options available for your student.
