I am a graduate of Brown University, where I earned my B.A. in Literary Arts and Visual Arts, taking courses in a wide array of subjects ranging from contemporary American fiction to ancient Indian classics. My first teaching experience came in college when I had the privilege of creating and teaching a series of literature courses at a local community center. There are few experiences I find more enriching than facilitating a meaningful dialogue centered around great works of literature and art. While literature and art are my passion, I also tutor in variety of other subjects, including math, science, and test preparation. I currently work as a lead teacher in the after-school program at Archway Classical Academy in Phoenix.

I am currently applying to MFA programs and working as a tutor in NYC. I went to Boston University where I studied Mandarin, Political Science, and East Asian Studies. After spending a lot of time in Shanghai and coming back to the US where I worked at a midsize marketing firm, I realized I am really most passionate about literature and reading. I left the marketing world to pursue academia and have been fully immersed in this world of learning and tutoring for over a year. Outside of Varsity Tutors, I also tutor an 11th grade boy several times a week in AP English and AP Biology. Personally, I also enjoy writing fiction, specifically short stories, and I play acoustic guitar.

As a result, I was admitted to UChicago for undergrad and to Yale for my Ph.D. I'll be happy to pass on all of my study and test taking strategies to you.

My first math lesson was when I was three years old. When I learned how to add numbers, I realized that there are numerous ways to find a solution, which propelled me to math being my favorite subject. I enjoyed seeing how numbers, logic, and operations come together. Now as a college student pursuing a dual degree in Finance and Business Analytics, I need to apply these math concepts into the business world.Out of all the subjects I have taken, math has been the consistent honors class I take every year. In other words, I always take the highest offered math course that school year allows me to take. In my 5th grade honors math class, I got the highest prealgebra pretest grade out of the whole class. While other students scored in the 50s, I got a 82. Since then, I knew math was my passion. I also did math league competitions and math Olympiad throughout middle and high school. I understood everything the teacher said and quickly became a secondary teacher for my classmates outside the classroom.My first tutoring experience took place in high school. While I took the most accelerated math subjects, I assisted others on their lower math subjects-subjects I took years before. I took my interest of math into AP Statistics, AP Calc, and Multivariable Calc and loved how the symbols created almost a new language of math. When I tutor students, my biggest advice is to understand and memorize the concept before applying formulas and operations into the problem. Practice is a big emphasis to succeed, especially higher degree math. I can teach basically any type of math lower than multivariable calculus, with exception to geometry, since I am not as strong as algebra or calculus. I really do not have a favorite math subject to tutor, since they all connect with each other and I have different styles to teach each of them.Outside of math, I am a big sports fan, and love applying statistics to specific teams and players. I also love playing poker.

I have experience in Medical-Surgical, Surgical-Trauma Critical Care, and Medical Appeals/Quality Assurance/UR.While in nursing school, I was a peer tutor and truly loved helping others succeed. I have decided that I would love to continue this by going to grad school for Nurse Education. I graduated with honors and got all A's and B's while in nursing school. I found a great way to organize my lectures into study guides. I am currently enrolled in a Nurse Educator program and student teach as part of my courses. Currently, we are hybrid and I assist in the virtual aspect of the course. I would love to pass on my knowledge and passion for nursing to those who need help.I would also love to help any high school or middle school students that require assistance in my qualified areas.As a nurse, anatomy/physiology is something that I feel like I am nearly an expert in. I did very well in Pharmacology earning high scores on all exams and recognition from my nursing instructor. I also have a strong background in medical-surgical and complex medical populations. I have a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and truly enjoy learning about human nature.I passed the NCLEX in less than 40 minutes with 75 questions. I studied very hard. I have learned how to read the question in order to ELIMINATE the answers. That is the KEY to NCLEX! And learning how to read what the question is ACTUALLY asking you.
