Calculus Tutoring review by Dina in Sarpy County, NE
Today, we reviewed the material the student would see on his upcoming test. We reviewed the definition of one- and two-sided limits, and the relationship between limits and continuity. Then, we worked on infinite limits and the squeeze theorem. Finally, we reviewed absolute value limits and algebraic solving.

Today's session was on linear equations and inequalities with absolute values in preparation for the student's test on Tuesday. I did a quick synopsis of both topics that took 20 min, then we started solving problems on his study sheet. After working on linear equations, it was fairly clear that the student knew the topic pretty well. I showed him an alternate method for solving quadratic equations when the middle term is the sum of two factors of the extreme terms. Then we moved on to inequalities. This section was the one that the student already had the most experience with. He already knew many of the steps I showed in my examples. So, I anticipate that with occasional practice to keep the methods fresh in his mind, he will do very well on this test.

Very good session today! We mostly focused on an intro to integrals, approximating the area under a curve using a series of rectangles, either left or right endpoint. We did the same with a velocity graph, calculating the area in order find distance. We also worked on two linear model problems, finding the model using an x-y table.

We are almost through with chapter nine. I've been focusing my efforts into having her understand and practice the material rather than hasten her to get through the book. When we finish the textbook, I still plan to go back through the book with her to make sure she has retained all the information in the textbook.

Calculus Tutoring review by Adam in Sarpy County, NE
We began to cover trigonometric functions. I motivated the idea of trigonometry by talking about periodic functions in finance (as in seasonal differences in profit and expenses). We then talked about using trigonometry to find cartesian coordinates for circular motion, then went over the relationship between the tangent function and geometric tangents.
