Today the student and I went over the integral test, convergence and divergence, and double integrals. He is doing very well, he seems to be grasping the new material fairly easily. I told the student he should work on remembering r (geometric series) and p series, so that he can solve convergence/divergence problems easier.

We went over some practice problems today in preparation for the exam. While a majority of it went over well with exponential functions and logarithms. Towards the end of the session, he seemed to improve with his approach towards partial differentiation, which had been a challenging area.

The student had gotten a C on his most recent quiz. Today, we focused on higher derivatives and critical points. We practiced taking the second derivative of a variety of functions, which gave him additional practice with derivatives. We then applied the concept of a derivative to find relative extrema of given functions. These problems can be very long, so we only practiced two and finished up by discussing the overall process.
