Calculus Tutoring review by Samuel in Boston, MA
We reviewed for an exam that is to be taken today. The exam is to cover related rates, the chain rule, derivatives, implicit differentiation, etc. I believe that he is able to do all the problems but the instructor seems to be moving at a very fast pace compared to the first half of the class.

Calculus Tutoring review by Matthew in Boston, MA
Today, we started our session by continuing our discussion of motion in along a line. These questions have many variations that can be used to throw off the test taker. We discussed many of these tricks and ways to spot them. We went through another AP multiple choice style questions over this topic. For each of the problems, I had the student work it on his own and then explain the concepts and reasons relating to that questions. Many times I made statements or asked questions that were meant to be misleading or slightly wrong so that the student would have to catch the subtle differences in the problems. The student is growing more and more confident with these questions. To conclude the session, we worked on an AP free response question conveniently covering these same ideas. By this point, the student should have been exposed to most if not all of the types of questions relating to this topic.

We went through more homework problems. This time, the homework concentrated mostly on calculating limits of functions while the rest had to do with the continuity/discontinuity of functions. In addition to the homework, we did a few more problems online relating to limits. When doing those online problems, I gave the student some tips and tricks on how to do those limit problems. Just like last time, the lesson went well and I hope that it stays that way!

Calculus Tutoring review by Wesley in Boston, MA
First student- We worked through surface area and volume of various shapes in order to prep for her test today. She understands quite well how to manipulate various problems regarding the surface area of about every shape she could think of. We also worked through the surface area of frustums of conics and pyramids. Second student- We worked through a bunch of differential equations. After working through those, we went on to a more general review of the application of the derivative, optimization, critical points, points of inflection, where the points of inflection are if you take the absolute value of certain function. He seemed fairly comfortable with it all.
