...involves helping liberal arts students experience math and science in a way that makes sense to them. In high school, I struggled with math and science classes and believed that I would never be good at them. After a break of several years, I'm currently in the middle of an undergraduate in Applied Mathematics. I was fortunate enough to have a paradigm shift in the way I perceived myself and the world around me and...

...us and our kids to leading us and them to bright future. I travelled and lived in many countries around the world; this opportunity gave a chance to have a global knowledge about people coming from different cultural background which made it easier and interesting for me to deal with diverse group of students. Life is good, so enjoy your journey in it and leave a mark on your final chapter.... As a mathematics instructor for more than 14 years, I find that most students have not yet been exposed to mathematics as it exists in real life. They might be good enough at solving the problems assigned to them in class, but rarely do they have a concept of what mathematics is about or what goes into its development. Neither can they understand why we as mathematicians choose to - or have to - devote our lives to its study. I consider it among my most pressing duties to change this. An integral part of my teaching is showing my students that mathematics is not magic handed down to them from the academic powers-that-be; instead, much of it consists of good ideas that someone with a deep enough understanding of the appropriate background material can reasonably hope to discover independently. My teaching philosophy is built on several readings through my graduate study, and also concluded from an overlook at my teaching experience in classrooms for about 14 years. As an educator, I believe that the purpose of education is to make sure every student has the opportunity to be successful in life. My philosophy in education is pragmatism. The pragmatic method is primarily a method of settling metaphysical disputes that otherwise might be interminable. Pragmatism is derived from the Greek word pragma, which means action. I believe a student's potential should be pushed and encouraged so that the student gains more knowledge of the world around him. I enjoy creative methods while teaching; even though I taught the same materials and content through the last few years, every semester I enjoy searching for something new and creative to include in my teaching style. I believe each student also has his/her own way of thinking and absorbing knowledge. I like to watch students making up their own style of learning; each one of them has his unique method of thinking, and when the learning environment is full of diversity, it will be more interesting and will attract students.

As a tutor, my role is to guide students toward finding their own answers. I help them realize how much they already know and apply that knowledge to new learning. When there are gaps in the background knowledge, I help to fill those in. If you need to catch up on a class you're behind in, learn strategies for test-taking, or just have somebody else explain a concept you're not getting, I can help!

...students in chemistry, honors chemistry, general chemistry, physical sciences, physics, and AP Physics 2: Mechanics. I like to tutor calculus the most because I find it interesting that we work with variables that are changing. With hard work and dedication, I believe anyone can succeed. I generally use a step-by-step approach with students to simplify difficult concepts. From my experience, I find it easier to understand why we use certain formulas instead of memorizing them....
