Being the 2nd oldest of seven children, tutoring has always come naturally. Having completed most of the courses prior to my younger siblings taking them, it was natural to spend time answering their questions and working through problems with them. Having graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, I was oftentimes called upon by my peers to help explain a difficult concept, or work through a difficult exercise. In addition to my extensive education in mathematics, I also worked at a Writing tutor at Roger Williams University in the Center for Academic Development.

I have taught and tutored students of all age groups and all grades ranging from KG to college (including students with ADHD and on the Autism spectrum). I have taught these students in a wide range of subjects including Accounting, Math, English, Reading, Writing, Science, Social Studies, Essay Writing, Hindi, and Finance. I am a passionate educator and have spent many years helping students become better learners and skilled to become better citizens of our world.

Originated as a creative in the music industry in Germany, I found passion in education and am now in a leadership role at a career college in Minneapolis. Because German is my native language, I decided to help people who are interested in learning the language of my home country. Mostly, learning should be about having fun and having a sense of accomplishment at the end. I provide fun and interactive lessons teaching you all levels of German.

The key to tutoring is taking a fact or idea and making it relevant, not simply on a global level, but on an individual one as well. This means not only asking the question, "How is this idea relevant to the modern day?" but also to pose to your student, "How is this relevant to you, to your individual life?" When one does the latter, one not only cultivates an intellect, but cultivates a relationship as well, and that is key to effective pedagogy.

I am a senior at the University of St. Thomas Majoring in Computer Science. I have had experience tutoring students on campus in the computer science department for over 2 years. I am currently able to tutor computer science as well as ACT prep for both reading and science. When tutoring students long term I think it's important to establish a relationship and gain rapport to better connect and engage.

I am a recent college graduate from the University of Wisconsin River Falls with a B.S. ACS Biochemistry degree. While pursuing my degree I tutored a number of math and science courses. I have experience with one-on-one tutoring and also leading study groups of around five students. The courses I am most passionate about tutoring are general chemistry, organic chemistry, and math courses. I am quickly able to assess the strengths, weaknesses, and learning style of students in order to cater to their specific needs. Some students have a difficult time understanding topics from the perspective their instructor gives, but I am confident I can help those students learn the topics from a perspective they can understand. I am a very active person in my spare time. Some of my hobbies include snowboarding, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, going to the beach, and hiking.

Following my passion of teaching and working with students, I also studied to become licensed to teach math and physics. I have spent time working with students in St. Paul who are struggling to meet grade level standards, students who need an extra boost for an AP test, and I spent an entire semester at a school in India working with students in math, physics, and SAT prep. I really enjoy tutoring students through their preparation for standardized tests. AP, ACT, and SAT are tests where a quick understanding of the content is necessary, but students also need wise strategies for working under time pressure, narrowing down answers, and understanding what the questions are really saying. I value critical thinking as my philosophy of education, because students who have developed the ability to reason through new concepts and be confident in the conclusions they reach are not only well-prepared for tests, but also well-prepared for everything they encounter in life. When not tutoring, I spend my time reading a wide variety of books, knitting, running, playing Ultimate Frisbee, and hiking.

When I graduate in May of 2017, I plan to teach at a high school in the twin cities area. I have a wide range of tutoring experience beginning with private tutoring in high school with two students. I then worked one hour a week at Brookings, SD high school credit recovery tutoring students in any high school math course. Following the high school, I also have a full year of experience tutoring for the South Dakota State University Mathematics Department. This experience included assisting students in Pre-College Algebra with any questions they may have while they worked on their online homework. Also, I proctored exams and personally tutored in the on campus Math Help Center. The Math Help Center was established for students to show up for walk-in hours and receive one-on-one tutoring with any college mathematics course ranging from Pre-College Algebra to Calculus II. I have tutored just about any mathematics subject from high school to college and have successfully completed upper level college mathematics courses. Personally, I feel I am best at tutoring Algebra, as I understand it real well in order to give multiple perspectives on how to solve a problem.When I am not tutoring, I keep myself busy with whatever I can feel productive with. This mainly includes an extensive research effort on my family genealogy. I have compiled a family tree with over 2,100 members and it continues to grow. I went as far as performing an Ancestry DNA test to learn more about my family history. I greatly respect my roots and where I have came from. Lastly, I have the personality that will lead me to be successful in the world of education. I planned to major in Financial Engineering at SDSU and become an Actuary Scientist working for insurance companies. Although this pay would reach six figures in a matter of years, I respectfully declined the opportunity my first semester at SDSU because I felt a calling to change the world for the good. I felt my duty was to use my extensive knowledge in mathematics to change the lives of students like my high school teachers did for me. I have countlessly handled numerous things at once and am able to multi-task very successfully. My primary hobby truly is running. I run and compete for the South Dakota State University Jackrabbits at the Division 1 level and have proved myself successful. With this multitude of events on my plate, I continue to display my academic, athletic, and personal success in life. I look forward to touching more lives than I already have!

Spanish has been around me my whole life. My father was a Mexican Italian American and I frequently heard the language coming from the den. When I was a senior in High School I went o Santiago, Chile and ended up living there for 9 years. I studied and worked there and when I returned to the USA I continued to use Spanish while conducting imports and exports to Latin America. I recently moved back to the USA from Mexico where I was teaching English and remodeling an old Hacienda. I have a masters in elementary education and have taught one on one tutoring for the last 20 years in English and Spanish. I hope we can work together. Sale y Vale
