With a BA in English Language Arts and TEFL/TESOL certification, I possess over twenty-five years experience teaching/training adolescents and adults in classrooms and online, in both the corporate and civil service fields. Subjects of instruction have included everything from literature, creative writing, reading and lesson planning to infant care, small animal husbandry and unclaimed property management. I currently work online as an English teacher, business English teacher, academic/learning coach, and as an English and history tutor. I LOVE teaching and tutoring because I get to share my interests and experience with like-minded people of all ages. Too, I enjoy those "Aha!" moments--seeing the lightbulb go off when students grasp complex or difficult topics. Most of all, I appreciate learning as much from my students as I hope they learn from me.

I am a math teacher, in addition to being a tutor. I enjoy working one-on-one with students the most, because I find that I make connections with students that way and am able to work out what they're struggling with and how to help them much quicker. I love math, and I use it all the time in the different types of crafting that I do, including home-improvement projects. I hope to be able to pass on my joy for math while also helping students realize their full potential.

I earned my BS in Human Resource Management and MBA from Metropolitan State University. Over the years, I've helped hundreds of students across the country obtain their professional certifications, working both in group settings and one-on-one. My favorite subject to teach is insurance, hands down. There's something incredibly rewarding about seeing a student pass an exam they thought was impossible. I bring a patient, practical, and encouraging style to my sessions. I believe in meeting learners where they are, simplifying complex topics, and using interactive games and real-world examples to keep things fun and memorable. Outside of tutoring, I'm a proud dog mom who enjoys long walks, nature hikes, and the occasional reality TV marathon (the trashier the better). I bring humor and empathy into everything I do, and I love helping students build confidence while crushing their goals.

I am a graduate of Metropolitan State university. I received my Bachelor of Arts Social Sciences with a focus in Anthropology. I also minored in Biology. After graduation I spent many years in informal education settings at museums, nature centers, and 50 hours helping in a kindergarten. I developed and presented programs and classes. I assisted teachers with reading and writing. Through experiences I was able to spark learning through play and interactive activities. I have two favorite subjects to tutor. The first subject that I love to tutor is Science. There is so much wonder in the world. I love helping students see the wonder through different perspectives. I love to motivate students to discover, explore, and ask questions. The second subject is reading. I love stepping into the world of imagination. I love traveling into different worlds and realms. I enjoy bringing different worlds and perspectives to the students. I love learning. I want to pass that love of learning to students through making the sessions with me fun, interactive, and tailored to the uniqueness of each student. I am also comfortable tutoring in elementary and middle school social studies, Elementary language Arts, and early elementary math. One of the things that I really appreciate is getting to know my student and their adults before tutoring begins, because you are working together to empower the student to learn and grow in knowledge. It is helpful to know exactly what the adults and the students want to achieve from the sessions. It helps you set small goals for the student, and set up a workable living changing plan that fits both the goals and the needs. I reach out to the families over the platform messaging system first. I let the adult or student pick the way they like to communicate. I will introduce myself and ask a few questions likes and dislikes (school and other). What topics? How much time would you like to spend? What do you want to accomplish-this week, by two weeks, in a month, and a few months? How can we help you achieve those those goals? I ask how they learn. The answers to these questions will help start formulating that plan. If I am talking to the adult I like to ask them how their child learns (visual, auditorily, or by hands on doing. That helps me make the sessions more relevant and motivating. I believe that in order for students to achieve their goals they must be motivated and invested in their learning. They must be supported in a way that is inspiring, encouraging and empowering, and by making the sessions relatable to them, and met them where they are at. Sometimes a student doesn't want to divide into the lesson part of the session right away. I will have a game, review, or just a few minutes for them to talk. I also like to send updates, worksheets, websites, and other helpful resources to the students if they and their adults are open to that. Another thing that I appreciate is the open communication and feedback. If an adult would like me to change a session (time, topic, or arrangement) I encourage the feedback. Again we are working together to help the student achieve knowledge, understanding, and life skills.

Greetings! I specialize in working with kids who have socio-emotional issues, educational delays, spectrum disorders, PTSD, IEPs, 504s, and general anti-math feelings. I've worked clinically and in-home with special needs kiddos, and have experience within my own family. My style is student-specific, though generally relaxed. Math already causes headaches and stomach aches; I don't need to add to that stress. As a lifetime learner who originally obtained an AA degree in Behavioral Science (emph.- Psychology), I went on to attain a BA degree in Speech Communications (emph.- Rhetoric and Public Speaking), with a Minor in Marketing (emph.- Sustainable Marketing) from MSU in Denver, CO. I graduated Cum Laude and Summa Cum Laude, respectively. My true passion has always been math; I like making it less scary. Math is everywhere, and if we can make it our friend rather than a nemesis, we've won most of the battle. Good luck in your searches and future success!

I am passionate about teaching because I believe that all students can learn and grow. Of course, everyone has different learning styles, strengths, and challenges. My job is to teach the material in a way that best aligns with individual students' needs. I especially love teaching math because many students seem to dislike math and assume they are not "good" at math. It's fun to see them recognize that they can develop skills to comprehend much more than they ever thought possible. I have a teacher's license with a master's degree in Elementary Education and endorsements in Middle School Math and CLD (culturally and linguistically diverse learners). While I no longer teach as my main career, I enjoy tutoring very much and am grateful for the opportunity to still teach.
