I was lucky to have truly exceptional teachers, starting in elementary school and continuing on through my neurosurgical residency. Inspired by them, I have been teaching in one way or another for about 35 years. Whether I was planning an operation with a resident physician, making orbital models with the chemistry students, or working alongside science fair participants (incidentally including my grandchildren!), these inspirational educators were always in my mind. Tutoring is just another form of interactive, mutual learning, which can serve to expand and strengthen the knowledge base we all need to be participatory citizens.

I obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and Biochemistry from Florida State University. During my time at Florida State, I worked as a Teaching Assistant for the FSU Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry. I spent my time teaching for the Organic Chemistry Laboratory course, as it is my favorite subject. I also have worked tutoring pre-medical and pre-pharmacy students in all of the prerequisite science courses for their respective school.I have found that the best way to tutor a student is to address each students needs and gain an understanding of their unique thought process; nobody solves a problem the exact same way. With many educational institutions adapting a philosophy of "teaching to the test" rather than an understanding, I feel an individualistic approach is the best way to complement this paradigm.When I am not working, I enjoy working on my project car, swimming, and running.

I'm a pre-health student at the University of Pennsylvania, and have an extensive background in the sciences. I can also rock the SATs and MCAT, so I've got that going for me. I love learning with students and trying to make the tedious work of learning as fun as possible. I think and teach in examples and make abstract concepts easily understandable. I also love sports, adventures, travelling!

After graduation, I entered a M.S. graduate program in Biology at Arizona State University. When I'm not teaching biology to undergraduate majors at ASU, I research topics in aquatic ecology. Understanding the connectedness and patterns of environmental processes in aquatic ecosystems drives my passion to become an ecologist!My goal is to help students view learning as a positive experience! When students learn with me, they usually find that it is a very relaxed, hands-on, and visual process. I excel at tutoring biological subjects, but I also really enjoy helping students improve their writing and standardized testing skills. Every student is different, and so I firmly believe that studying and learning habits should be tailored to each person. I make it a goal to help students discover how they learn best! Having been involved in tutoring officially and unofficially for many years, I have developed a passion for helping students achieve their potential. My previous tutoring experiences include teaching high school biology, SAT prep, math tutoring, and tutoring medical students at risk for failing a course. I focus on individualizing my teaching style to meet each students needs by first trying to identify the underlying factors that are keeping each student from excelling. I have a B.S. in Biology and a PhD in Immunology and Virology and enjoy tutoring both math and science.

I am currently finishing up medical school in Philadelphia. The sciences have been my educational focus since college, with expertise in Biology, Physiology, Anatomy, General Chemistry, and more. I have strong teaching experience and continue to educate both in my clinical and research work. I use visual cues such as diagrams and interactive materials to work with students and ensure that they understand and remember the topics.In my spare time I enjoy spending time with family, playing hockey, skiing and surfing!

I completed my undergraduate study at The Ohio State University and graduated with a Bachelor's of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences and minor in General Business. It is a no-sitting, no-sleeping 46-hour dance marathon in which Penn State students raise money for pediatric cancer.I recently moved to New York City, where I interact with and assist patients and physicians daily at an urgent care center. I am currently seeking admission to medical school, and take every opportunity to continue my own learning, while assisting others in theirs. I believe in guiding students through new concepts by breaking them down into smaller parts, including what they already know, then building upon that. The application of what we already know helps us gain a deeper understanding of the new concepts, reinforces the old ones, and fosters the confidence we need to thrive in academia.In my free time, I enjoy traveling, horseback riding, running, yoga and reading. I also enjoy experimenting in the kitchen with new recipes, catching up with friends over a good cup of coffee, and cheering on Penn State.
