Varsity Tutors can help prospective law school students find resources for Albany LSAT prep. No matter where you are in your law school-related decisions, you're probably well aware of the admissions exam: the Law School Admission Test (or LSAT). If you're looking for academic support with Analytical Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, or one of the other sections, help is available.
Whether you're more comfortable with one-on-one tutoring sessions or you'd prefer to work with others who are preparing for the same exam, Varsity Tutors can help. We can connect you with an Albany LSAT tutor or help you enroll in an Albany LSAT prep course. If you're not sure which model of instruction would work best for you, we could help you weigh the two.
What can I expect from Albany LSAT preparation?
The LSAT is comprised of sections that cover four types of content. You'll have just under three hours to complete the entire exam. The four sections are Reading Comprehension, Analytical Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, and Writing. Albany LSAT prep can help you to improve your understanding of any (or all) of these topics. Your score is determined by the number of questions that you answer correctly.
The exam is administered on digital tablets, which you will receive at the testing center; however, the Writing section is administered separately online via a secure testing platform. Candidates will have a year from the date they take the multiple-choice sections of the LSAT to take the Writing section. We're going to take a look at each of these sections, starting with Reading Comprehension.
In the Reading Comprehension section, you'll be given questions that explore your ability to identify the main idea or primary purpose in a passage, how you use given information within a new context, how easily you can identify the attitude of an author by reading the tone of the passage, and the information you can infer from selected passages.
The Analytical Reasoning section assesses how well you understand relationships in given passages and how easily you draw conclusions from the structure of those relationships. Questions in this section assess how well you can reason with conditional statements, make inferences about truth from provided facts and rules, and how you can make inferences about what is true based on information presented in hypothetical situations.
There are two Logical Reasoning sections. The questions assess how well you can analyze and complete arguments and how well you can critically evaluate arguments and passages. The content comes from a variety of sources, including newspapers, scholarly publications, magazines, advertisements, and informal discourse. Questions in this section assess how easily you recognize the elements of an argument and how they are related, how easily you pinpoint how patterns of reasoning are similar and different, and your skill in reasoning by analogy.
The Writing section is not scored. In this section, you're given a problem and will be required to choose between two courses of action. You'll have to explain your choice using reasoning. This section is not scored and gives you an opportunity to demonstrate your argumentative writing skills. All of the law schools you apply to get a copy of this section
How can Albany LSAT prep help me?
Whether you choose to enroll in an Albany LSAT prep course or you'd rather work one-on-one with an instructor, focusing on getting ready for the exam could help you to feel more confident when you go in to take your test. LSAT prep could also help you to strengthen your reasoning skills or written organization skills. There are benefits to both methods. At Varsity Tutors, we can help you find what you need in either method, or even a combination of the two. It's not uncommon for students to use both models of academic coaching services when they are preparing for a test as important as the LSAT.
If you work better in a collaborative environment with opportunities for discussion, taking part in an Albany LSAT prep class via our Live Learning platform can help you ensure that you get the study time you need. It also lets you study and interact in real time with others who are reaching for the same goal. You can attend the class from wherever you are since it is held online. Working with others might give you new insights into concepts you struggle with or teach you different strategies that you can use during the test. There are two week and four week classes, and new sessions begin weekly.
If one-on-one sessions are more your speed, we can introduce you to an Albany LSAT prep tutor who will create a schedule of meetings and a lesson plan that works for you. Your instructor will design a plan of study that takes into account information such as how you learn best and your academic strengths and areas of opportunity. Starting from the very first session, they'll create a plan meant to address the most challenging of topics, while moving past the topics you're already comfortable with. You can meet with an LSAT tutor in person at a specific location, or you can connect virtually, with our Live Learning platform.
What can I do to find help for Albany LSAT preparation?
To get ready for the LSAT, you could buy a few study guides and lock yourself in the library or join an unofficial study group with others you know who will take the exam, but it can be difficult to be sure that studying with friends will help you to better understand complicated topics. Why not reach out to Varsity Tutors to find the right type of Albany LSAT prep that works for you? Whether you choose individual sessions with an Albany LSAT tutor or you want group sessions with an Albany LSAT prep course, our educational consultants can help you connect with the resources you're looking for. I tutor the LSAT because I know it's a hard test and I know what it's like to struggle with it. However I also understand the process necessary to produce better scores, and nothing is more satisfying to me than helping someone achieve what seemed impossible a few months ago.... Your score is a product of so many factors--your understanding of the material, your speed, even how accurately you bubble answers--but in the end it all comes down to whether you studied the test from every angle and put in the time necessary to get the results you want.
