Hello, My name is Mary Mickelson and I'm currently a math teacher in Aurora, IL. I'm certified to teach math to grades 6-12 and have experience with a little bit of everything from 7th graders to AP Computer Science. I've also been an ACT and SAT test prep tutor for more than 5 years.

I always try to learn using Einstein's approach to understanding: "If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it enough." In my tutoring , I try to impart that same philosophy to my students.

I'm an engineering major who is passionate about teaching and loves to work with kids.... My teaching philosophy is learning by doing. It's important that students practice the skills they learn right away through guided and unguided practice problems. Students should be given the chance to figure out the problem for themselves before help is given.
