If you're a prospective student hoping to attend a law school such as the Regent University School of Law, Varsity Tutors can help by setting you up with quality Virginia Beach LSAT preparation. The LSAT, which is also known as the Law School Admissions Test, was designed with the intention of evaluating the necessary skills to be successful in a rigorous law school program. The LSAT is one of the more difficult obstacles for students hoping to enter the law profession. As a critical step in this process, you'll want to take advantage of every resource available as you prepare for exam day. LSAT prep can help you practice the skills needed to put your best foot forward.
What can Virginia Beach LSAT prep cover?
The LSAT consists of five 35-minute sections containing multiple choice questions. Four of these sections will contribute to your official score. Your score is based on the number of correct answers and each answer is weighed the same. Let's take a closer look at the different sections found on the LSAT, starting with the Reading Comprehension assessment.
The Reading Comprehension assessment evaluates your ability to read a given passage and be able to respond to questions based on the text. You'll need to be able to understand the kind of long-form, difficult texts found in your law school courses. Questions will ask you to identify the main idea of a passage, the meaning of words based on context, and principles that function within the selection. LSAT prep can help you practice discerning an author's attitude based on the tone of a passage or how new information impacts the argument in a selection.
The Analytical Reasoning test assesses your ability to understand a structure of relationships and draw inferences about the structure. You'll need to demonstrate your capacity to infer what could or must be true based on provided facts and rules. You'll need to practice being able to recognize two statements with context that is logically equivalent. These are skills you can practice under the supervision of an expert instructor.
The Logical Reasoning assessment is broken into two sections, each lasting for 35 minutes. This section asks you to critique, analyze, evaluate, and complete an argument. Passages in this section can come from newspapers, magazines, advertisements, or scholarly publications. You'll need to be able to draw conclusions that are well thought out, identifying flaws in arguments, and using analogies to reason through an issue. Your LSAT prep can help you with detecting assumptions made by particular arguments or being able to recognize a misunderstanding or point of agreement.
There are also two unscored sections. One is known as the Variable section and is used to pretest new questions or test formats. You won't know which section is the Variable section until after you receive your score.
The other unscored section is the Writing assessment. Your essay is sent to all law schools receiving your score. Prospective law schools look at your essay to assess your ability to demonstrate your argumentative writing skills. The Writing assessment will present you with a decision problem and you'll be asked to choose between two positions. There is no right or wrong answer. This is simply your opportunity to present an argument and defend your position with evidence and support.
No matter which of these sections you want to practice, you'll be able to find support and assistance in an LSAT prep course.

I tutor the LSAT because I know it's a hard test and I know what it's like to struggle with it. However I also understand the process necessary to produce better scores, and nothing is more satisfying to me than helping someone achieve what seemed impossible a few months ago.... Your score is a product of so many factors--your understanding of the material, your speed, even how accurately you bubble answers--but in the end it all comes down to whether you studied the test from every angle and put in the time necessary to get the results you want.
