If you are applying to law school and are looking for professional Portland LSAT prep, Varsity Tutors is the place to go. All law schools that are accredited by the ABA accept the LSAT as an admissions test, so you will be required to take the LSAT and prepare for it properly if you are considering applying to a law school in the Portland area, such as The Northwestern School of Law of Lewis and Clark College if you are serious about your future law career.

Professional help can benefit you greatly when it comes to preparing for the LSAT. Studying with a professional educator, whether in a virtual class or during private mentoring sessions, can put you on the right path and help you get ready for test day.

What should I cover during my LSAT preparation?

The LSAT has four sections that you should prepare for. Most of these sections contain multiple-choice questions, except for the Writing section. The first three sections are done in one sitting, while the Writing section can be taken for up to one year after taking the first three sections.

The first section is Reading Comprehension. You will have 35 minutes to complete this section. It will test your reading comprehension skills. You will be presented with passages that you will be expected to understand. These passages will be written at the same level as the passages that you will see in law school. You will be asked questions about the organization and structure of these passages. Other questions may be about the principles that function in the passage or certain ideas in the passage and their application in different contexts.

The next section will be Analytical Reasoning, for which you will also have 35 minutes. You will be asked questions pertaining to a structure of relationships that will be presented to you. You may be asked questions about conditional statements, and you may be tested on whether you can infer what is true and what is not true from the provided facts and rules.

The next section will be the Logical Reasoning section, for which you will have a total of 70 minutes. You will be presented with content from various sources, including scholarly publications and news publications. You may be asked questions about how additional evidence can support an argument or detract from it. You may also be asked to identify disagreements or recognize flawed arguments that are based on misunderstandings.

Finally, there will be the Writing section. This section will not be given a score. However, the schools that you are applying to will see a copy of your essay and be able to judge your writing skills based on that. Besides measuring your writing skills, the goal of the Writing section is to see how well you can compile and organize arguments in a clear, persuasive manner. You need to back up your arguments with supporting details and explain why that argument is correct. You will have to argue for a decision between two courses of action regarding a hypothetical scenario.

What kind of Portland LSAT prep should I go for?

Fortunately, you have a number of options when it comes to preparing for the LSAT in Portland, Oregon. Something that many students choose to do is take a Portland LSAT prep course. These courses take place over a span of two weeks or four weeks, and new courses start every week. This means that you won't have to wait long before getting started.

One thing you should know about taking a Portland LSAT prep class is that the class will be administered online, in a virtual setting, as opposed to in a classroom. This means that you can attend class from your home, office, or anywhere else where you feel comfortable. You do not have to go through a commute or struggle to find parking to get to this class. You will still get all of the benefits of studying with other students in a controlled environment. The instructor can interact with you and the other students and can help you review all of the concepts you need to know before test day.

Another option that is popular with many students is studying with a private Portland LSAT prep tutor. The benefits of choosing this route include the fact that you do not have to deal with a pace that is imposed on a class due to the needs of many other students. Instead, you can go at the pace at which you are the most comfortable. Your private mentor may also be able to refer you to additional resources that you can use to help you prepare for the test during your free time.

A private educational mentor can also help with general test-taking advice. For example, one thing you should know about the LSAT is that your final score is determined by how many answers you get correct and is not negatively affected by incorrect answers. If you cannot figure out the answer, you should take your best guess. Your private instructor may advise you to use the flagging feature on the LSAT tablet to flag a question if you don't know the answer so that you can come back to it later.

Yet another option, which some students prefer, is combining the two options mentioned above. This will give you the best of both worlds.
