What Are the Sections Covered in Las Vegas LSAT Prep?
Las Vegas LSAT prep covers the exam in depth. The four sections that make up the test are Reading Comprehension, Analytical Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, and Writing. The first three sections are multiple-choice, and the Writing section is one written response. Each section is designed to assess different skills. Let's take a look at what each section assesses so that you will have a better understanding of what you will need to know on the test day.
In the Reading Comprehension section, you will be answering questions that will measure your skills in reading and understanding examples of long-form, complex texts that are similar to ones you will likely face in law school. You will be asked to answer questions about the meaning and purpose of phrases and words used in context, the structure of the reading, the principles that function in the reading, inferred ideas or information, explicitly stated information, the primary purpose or idea of the selection, and correlations to arguments in the selection. You will also answer questions about an author's attitude as revealed in the tone of a passage and the impact of new information on claims in the passage. You receive 30 minutes to answer all the multiple-choice questions in this section.
The Analytical Reasoning section assesses your skills in reasoning with conditional statements, inferring facts, and correlating statements. From provided facts and rules, you will infer what could be, or must be, true. You will also infer what could be true with new information presented in hypotheticals. You do not need logic training to answer these questions as they are intended to measure knowledge, skills, and reasoning abilities usually learned in undergraduate and graduate programs. This section is multiple-choice, and you are given 35 minutes to complete it.
Logical Reasoning questions use content from newspapers, magazines, advertisements, informal discourse, and scholarly publications. This section measures your skills in analyzing, evaluating, and completing arguments. You will need to be able to identify parts of an argument and their relationships, draw conclusions that are well-supported, recognize points of disagreement in an argument, detect assumptions made by particular arguments, identify flaws and explanations, and apply principles. You will also need strong analogical reasoning skills in this section. This two-part section is administered in 70 minutes.
Finally, the Writing section is taken separately from the last three sections mentioned. You must complete this section one year to the date of taking the multiple-choice sections. You will take this section online using a secure testing platform. In this section, you will need to make and present a decision about a problem. You will choose between two courses of action, and then provide support for your choice. There is no correct position; this section simply demonstrated your ability to write an argumentative piece. Although this section does not affect your score on the LSAT, law schools will use your submission to learn about your abilities to reason, organize, and defend an argument. You will only receive 35 minutes to complete your writing, so you will need to work quickly and effectively.

Having a degree in chemistry with emphases in mathematics and environmental science, I am meticulous about understanding the material itself as well as understanding why the material applies to you in your own personal life. With this in mind, I hope I can assist you not only in bettering your grades, but also understanding the world around you.... The techniques would vary from student to student. For some students, a logic-based derivation of the material works best (mathematical proofs, scientific research, etc.), while for others, practical application in their everyday lives works best (using mathematics to do taxes, science behind vaccines, etc.), while still others work best with rogue practicing of problems (working problems at the end of chapter, creating new problems, etc.).

I tutor the LSAT because I know it's a hard test and I know what it's like to struggle with it. However I also understand the process necessary to produce better scores, and nothing is more satisfying to me than helping someone achieve what seemed impossible a few months ago.... Your score is a product of so many factors--your understanding of the material, your speed, even how accurately you bubble answers--but in the end it all comes down to whether you studied the test from every angle and put in the time necessary to get the results you want.
