I've been helping students understand math for over 25 years, and one of the things I'm most proud of is how often I hear, "You make this so much easier to understand." I believe that math doesn't have to be stressful or scarywith the right approach (and the right tutor), it can actually be enjoyable. I genuinely love what I do, and I bring a lot of patience, encouragement, and positivity into every session. I want students to feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and growing in confidence.

I earned my degree in Math Education from Brigham Young University and have taught junior high, high school, and college math, as well as tutored students of all ages over the years. I've helped struggling learners, high achievers looking to push ahead, and even my own kids through both high school and college-level math.

Algebra is my favorite subject to teach, and I've found that it's often where students hit a wall. I love helping them break through that wall by showing them new ways to think about the problems ways that make sense to them. I use real-life comparisons and walk students through problems step by step, building understanding and independence at the same time.

I'm an upbeat, approachable person, and I think that makes it easier for students to relax and really learn.

Hobbies

Outside of tutoring, I enjoy a wide range of hobbies that keep me both mentally and physically active. I’ve always loved playing card and board games—I grew up playing Spades and Rook, and more recently, I’ve gotten into Bridge. I used to think it was just a game for older people, but it turns out I really enjoy the strategy and challenge it offers. I’ve also played softball, volleyball, and enjoy swimming. When it comes to watching sports, I’m a fan of football and lacrosse—and I’ll happily watch a soccer match as long as my daughter is playing. I also enjoy movies, reading, spending time with my family, and relaxing at the beach whenever I get the chance.
