How can Math tutoring help you succeed?

The importance of math in our world may not be understated, and its significance in education is tremendous. It is crucial that students are able to develop their math skills so that they may build on them and gain a better understanding of our mathematical universe. Students must learn many different ideas that stem from each other, and concepts such as multiplication, division, converting measurements, and orders of operation may be challenging to growing minds. Acquiring math skills is simply more difficult for some students, but any student may achieve proficiency in the subject if they practice enough! To help your child work towards proficiency, you may contact Varsity Tutors to find a math tutor in Salt Lake City. Our tutors have professional experience in math, and they are able to work with your child in developing his or her proficiency in the subject.

The benefits of having a personal tutor for your child are numerous, and it is much more effective than relying on learning solely from a classroom teacher. This teacher is also worrying about classroom full of other students at the same time. Our educational directors may find you an expert and personable math tutor in Salt Lake City who may design a study plan that focuses on your child's specific needs. Your child's tutor is able to work with him or her at his or her own pace, making it much easier to learn. Your child doesn't have to worry about falling behind with a personal tutor, since their tutor is able to adapt the lesson plan depending on how the session is going. Your child's tutor may be able to recognize what they have difficulties with and focus only on those topics.

Math Tutoring review by Austin in Salt Lake City, UT
This was one of our last meetings before the student takes the final exam. As her grade is low and we are trying to get her to pass the class, we decided to do some extra credit material. We used one of the website for her course to do some practice drills that should be work credit towards old assignments. The quizzes themselves were quite difficult and the questions are far-ranging and obscure and are further complicated by the lack of images in some cases. She gave it her best shot, and then I explained the reasoning behind the correct solutions. We'll finish reviewing soon.

Math Tutoring review by Jennifer in Salt Lake City, UT
The student's teacher has been out of town so the class has been reviewing rational expressions and operations (+, -, x, /). She first completed her homework assignment covering multiplication and division. I then put together a series of review problems to emphasize three major points: 1. addition/subtraction problems require a least common multiple for the denominator and you must perform the actual operation before you can simplify, 2. multiplication/division problems should be factored (if possible) and should be simplified prior to performing the operation, and 3. If a dividend contains a integer and fraction, the LCM must be determined prior to creating the reciprocal so you can multiply the expressions. We then did a quick review of polynomial long division because she is taking a county-wide standardized test tomorrow and that was one topic she asked for a refresher on.

Math Tutoring review by Michael in Salt Lake City, UT
Today the student and I first went over a recent quiz that she had taken on trig and radian measures. She did okay on the quiz. So we went through the quiz to find that she largely understood all of the material. We finished this and then moved on to finishing going over sequences and series for the upcoming test. First we covered the basics of what we had gone over the past weeks, then we made a flow chart/study sheet on how to handle any type of series/sequence problem. We also finished going over infinite geometric series, which is largely a conceptual topic. She felt that she had a good grasp over the topic by the time we were done. I explained that a large part of it is formulaic and that using the flow chart should be largely sufficient. The last topic that we have to go over is probability, another topic that is largely memorization and we'll do that in our next session set for Thursday. I explained to her that I would like her to take one of the practice tests next week while I am on vacation so that we can identify the areas that she needs the most work on. Thursday will hopefully be spent going over probability and quickly reviewing the majority of the other topics. The session today went very well.

Math Tutoring review by Kristen in Salt Lake City, UT
We did a full advanced practice test for practice which included 40 multiple choice and 6 free response. It was a copy of an old test that my teacher in high-school gave me for practice. I have notes with all of the correct answers and explanations. I even put on a timer to try to make the situation closer to what he will actually experience for his real test. He finished the multiple choice with 30 minutes left to go. He finished the free response with over 40 minutes left to go. We went over each of his answers. He is smart and knows a good deal of the subject.
