Next, we reviewed the different methods of evolution and barriers to reproduction. Finally, we delved into types of natural selection, including sexual selection, convergent, and divergent evolution.

Tonight the student had a packet of questions that covered the basic characteristics of the kingdom Animalia, as well as more detailed information about the sponges and cnidarians. We covered all of this and her test is next Wednesday. She did not have any algebra that she wanted to cover during this session. She told me they are working on using the quadratic equation and that it, so far, is pretty easy for her to understand.

Biology Tutoring review by Brian in Boston, MA
We discussed the student's paper on genetic engineering. I helped her figure out how and when to use citations. We also discussed how to use specific examples and how to find reputable sources to cite. In preparation for Thursday, we developed a plan for her to focus on the vocabulary words from her biology text. Finally, we brainstormed ideas for an upcoming American History paper, and she settled on the Challenger disaster as her topic. I suggested she compare the space program before and after the disaster, as well as secondary effects such as the role of Richard Feynman in the inquest.

The student and I reviewed his test due dates and his action plan to complete his poster presentation on time. We also created a study schedule to prepare for finals in Algebra and Cell Bio. I also reminded him to finish his Carbohydrates lab report and turn in a rough draft to me. After he completes this lab, we will move on to re-editing his remaining labs to earn back some of the points he lost on these assignments. We also discussed summer activities for him.
