Hello! My name is Marjut Karlsson. I am an experienced instructor of English, French, Study Skills, Career/College Readiness, and Test Preparation. I started my teaching career in 1991 and taught in the K-12 public school system for 26 years; I have worked as an Adjunct Instructor at the community/technical level for 29 years. I really enjoy my work and feel passionate about excellence in education and success for all students.

I received my education Master's Degree from University of Puget Sound in 1993; my Bachelor's Degree, in International Studies and French, is also from University of Puget Sound.

Originally from Helsinki, Finland, I first came to the Seattle area, in Washington State, as a young high school student. Interestingly, life circumstances brought me to stay, and here I am still, almost 40 years later. Language studies have always been an integral part of me; I speak Finnish, French, some German, and Spanish. I plan on continuing to learn more; I will always be learning something new.

In my spare time, I love to be active outdoors: brisk waking, hiking, kayaking, and skiing. I enjoy mostly physical activities, but I also find reading, writing, art, cooking, and baking very enjoyable. I like to sing and listen to many different genres of music. Finally, I am hugely interested in different world cultures and languages and make it a point to travel to new places whenever I have the opportunity.
