Hi, I'm Jon.

I've worked in education for several years, teaching all levels of materials--K-12+ to people of all abilities.

I have had lengthy experience tutoring math, writing, psychology and literature. I've also helped prep for standardized tests including ACT, SAT, PSAT, SOL, Praxis, GED and general GRE. I went to college on a academic scholarship focusing primarily on psychology and medicine.

I have a zeal for helping others understand tough subject matter specific to their ability. I am passionate about presenting a new perspective on the unfamiliar.

Thank you for your consideration!

Q & A

What is your teaching philosophy?

Tapping into attention and motivation is vital. Teaching should be malleable, because learning is. My approach is to find out where something doesn't click and bridge the gap.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

For a first session, I would like to develop rapport with my client and get into a broad range of problems to determine areas we would want to focus in over the coming sessions.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

I always make an effort to convey concepts rather than dish out answers. For a student to be successful, and for tutoring to be effective, they must learn to learn on their own.
