ASPIRE Tutoring review by Arvind in Houston, TX
Today was my last day with the student before her big day. We mainly went over science and math, and did a quick review of writing as well as test-taking strategy. I think she can definitely build on the foundation we had set. However, she needs to take the test with her current abilities, and my job today was to maximize them. Substituting numbers as an unorthodox way of solving math problems was a big topic today.

ASPIRE Tutoring review by Maya in Houston, TX
The student and I reviewed a diagnostic test that she had taken this past week, reviewing both incorrect and correct answers to go over her thinking and approach to problem solving. This helped both of us to get a gauge as to where she's at and to identify topics that she has not covered in class. We also reviewed taxonomy and classification - 5 kingdoms, 3 domains, major phyla of plants and animals, etc.

ASPIRE Tutoring review by Jonathan in Houston, TX
In this session, the student and I discussed her needs and goals regarding test scores. Although she admits that she struggles with some of the material, it is also evident that she is very motivated to improve her SAT scores, which is great. We also began to cover the math portion of the SAT's, which is the part that she needed to improve the most. The student will continue to practice math and other subjects before our next session.

ASPIRE Tutoring review by Samantha in Houston, TX
I brought a copy of a review book for advanced students, and we worked on some advanced topics and harder problems in Math and Writing. In math I'm hoping to get the student to review her work for simple arithmetic/counting errors that will negatively impact her.

ASPIRE Tutoring review by Ginger in Houston, TX
The student and I tested her timing and pacing on a 25-minute writing multiple choice section and a 25-minute math section. For both sections, she finished 6-7 minutes early, leaving her enough time to check her answers. She missed two on the math section and five on the writing section. We went over these answers. We then reviewed a strategy for reading comprehension and for sentence completion. The student had very little trouble with these questions.
