What is your teaching philosophy?

I believe that all students can learn; they just need someone who will truly teach them.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

First, we must understand the expectations of the assignment. After that, we will begin planning, looking at other examples, practicing, and revising. Writing is a process, and it must be treated as such.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

The key is to truly teach a student how to do something. The problem is that many teachers don't really teach...they just expect. If you give a student the right tools and teach them how to use them, they will grow and develop into an independent learner.

How would you help a student stay motivated?

I motivate my students by being active and involved in their success. I help them set goals and then reach those goals!
