How can Mandarin Chinese tutoring help you?

Mandarin Chinese is often considered one of the more difficult languages to learn. If you have decided to begin learning the language and find this to be true, you may want to think about getting a private tutor. Varsity Tutors can help you find an experienced Mandarin Chinese tutor in Long Island, New York. You can work with your tutor on Mandarin Chinese vocabulary and grammar at a time and place that works best for you - even online.

Long Island, New York, Mandarin Chinese tutors can give you their undivided attention in a one-on-one environment. This allows you to feel comfortable asking as many questions as you need, and it also allows you to choose the content that is covered in each session. You and your tutor can work together to formulate a lesson plan that is custom-made for you and your specific learning needs and goals. You may find that you excel at drawing the characters for the written portion of the language but struggle with syntax. If this is the case, then your tutor can focus on whichever areas you struggle with most and not waste time on the areas you already understand. Your tutor can also alter the way in which they teach to match the way in which you learn best. Perhaps you find yourself in an immersion style class and are greatly confused by this learning style. Your tutor can discern the learning style you best learn with (aural, visual, or kinesthetic) and teach to that style. You and your tutor may even find that this needs to change throughout a lesson based on the topics being covered. For example, you may generally be a visual learner but find that actively participating in a lesson (perhaps conversing with your tutor in the language) is more helpful for pronunciation lessons. Your tutor can accommodate accordingly.

The student had two tests, which he worked on for the entire session. He breezed through his final, which covered: ser, gustar, vocabulary, and conjugating verbs. He was very confident while taking the test. Next, he did his last unit test which covered: vocabulary, pronouns, irregular verbs in the present tense, and facts about Puerto Rico. I really enjoyed working with him and I hope he has a great summer.

Mandarin Chinese Tutoring review by Kenna in Long Island, NY
The student is having an upcoming test so he completed a review packet as a way to study for test. The packet covered the following topics: vocabulary related to TV and soccer, the passive voice, the present perfect tense and past participles, the present perfect tense of reflexive verbs, using past participles as adjectives and the past perfect tense. After completing the review packet, we moved onto the next chapter in his textbook. I introduced some of the new vocabulary in the chapter on traveling to the student. He made index cards on the new vocabulary words. I then touched on the future tense with him.

I just had a Chinese lesson with the student, and it went well. We mostly talked about oral Chinese the entire session since he is going to have an oral Chinese exam tomorrow. That's why we had a lesson today, to help him get prepared for it. I am sure he will do well in the exam.
