I am an undergraduate student at Temple University. I am currently working toward a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering and am particularly interested in automotive engineering. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, my favorites are general physics and algebra. In helping students prepare for the ACT, I am particularlly helpful in the math and science portions of the exams. I personally stress the foundations of any subject, due to the confusion in basic building blocks of knowledge compounding at higher levels. My hobbies and interests include lifting weights, watching football and learning about new technology in my free time.

What is your teaching philosophy?
My personal teaching philosophy is to stress the fundamentals of the subject from the ground up, and teach students to apply lower level concepts to higher complexity problems.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
One thing I would do with a student is to have them create a list of things that they are comfortable with, uncomfortable with, and things they want to know.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
To show them that they will need it later in school is important to understand the basics to learn advanced subjects.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
Have the student attempt to walk through a problem with me to identify where the gaps in understanding are.
How would you help a student get excited/engaged with a subject that they are struggling in?
I would hope to find a way to relate the subject to things they use every day to show the real life application of the subject.
What techniques would you use to be sure that a student understands the material?
Have the student attempt to talk me through a problem to figure out their approach to the material.
How do you build a student's confidence in a subject?
Have a student do several problems that are within their ability level, and slowly move into more and more complex problems.
How do you evaluate a student's needs?
Have them fill out a "what they know, what they are unclear about, and what they want to know" chart.
