I am a graduate of the University of Richmond and Rutgers University. With my Masters in English, I have spent several years in the classroom as a middle school English teacher, most recently working with students who need to complete school outside the classroom for disciplinary or medical reasons. I absolutely love teaching writing, literature and reading comprehension, and try to make everything easy to relate to and fun because I believe that this leads to better comprehension and understanding, while at the same time enabling my students to learn as much as possible. In addition, I have a passion for helping my students express themselves creatively through writing, find their own individual writing style and voice, and convey their ideas in the most concise and interesting way possible. I look forward to working with you!

Q & A

What is your teaching philosophy?

I believe that all students can learn, as long as the teacher can find a way to relate the material to the student. I strive to reach each and every student.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

In a typical first session, I would talk to the student about what he or she believes his or her strengths and weaknesses are. I would then ask to see a writing sample, or sample test, or any other piece of information that will give me a better idea of what the actual strengths and weaknesses are. Then, after a short assessment to gauge our starting point, we would formulate a plan for our sessions.
