The student worked on essays and the reading portion today while I observed. I emphasized the need for organization in her essays; though I haven't seen a sample of her writing. I suggested she come up with her topic sentences, then thesis statement, then write the paper, rather than trying to draw together a thesis statement after the essay is written (which a past teacher had suggested she do). She does really well with the reading passages, and only struggles when the passages get longer. She's going to watch for this on the exam, prioritizing sections that are shorter and/or easier to understand.

During this session, the student worked on gas laws and gas stoichiometry. We solved practice problems to determine the amount, volume, and partial pressure of gasses in solutions, in addition to completing homework for a lab assignment. This was all in preparation for an exam on 4/23.

The student and I worked on math tonight. First, we made flash cards with various formulas that she needs to review. Then we worked our way through the rest of a math test. Because it takes longer to go through the math tests, she will work on completing questions over the weekend so we can review the answers together later. We mostly reviewed situations in which to use t-tests and z-tests. However, as part of this, we familiarized ourselves with the given equations and tables used on the examination.
