Tutoring review by Salome in Highlands Ranch, CO
The student and I worked on reading comprehension homework. He did much better this week in answering his questions with complete sentences. Also, we did a math worksheet on counting with coins. The student knows all the different coins and their values well and was able, for the most part, to calculate total amounts when giving several coins. He did have a little bit of trouble with tens and fives when combined, though.

I worked with the student again today on his math work. We went over the end of the math portion of the practice exam for the assessment test and then we focused on the Quantitative Reasoning section of the exam. We went back over a lot of the practice problems on the math section. I reminded the student to use his testing strategies when going over the questions and to remember to underline key words. I told him I want him to take the verbal section of the practice exam 2 and the first half of the math section for Monday.

The only change that required in our strategy was solving a third order polynomial which we developed a few strategies for. There was also the issue of being accurate with our determinant calculations. We spent a good amount of time proof reading our calculations.
