In this session the student and I covered factoring trinomials and binomials through the use of difference of squares, perfect squares and factor box method. The student was struggling the most with understanding how perfect squares worked and how to factor them after identifying perfect squares. I left the student to finish his note card for the exam.

To begin, the student and I went over the previous material and the test she took on it, just to make certain she felt confident about the material, which she did. Then, we covered the next unit in her subject, which dealt with probability. Next, we reviewed some of the practice problems from her book to better prepare her for the test. A lot of time was spent emphasizing how to answer the questions, as the actual work was not too complicated, only the setting up of the question. I left her with the rest of her homework to do on her own. We will check again next week, as we'll be able to meet before her next test.
