What is the price of meeting with a private tutor in Madison?

The price of working with a tutor in Madison is variable based on your or your student's unique needs. For instance, you may pay a different rate for as-needed meetings than you would if you commit to sessions every Wednesday after school.

Likewise, tutoring for a student learning how to count money at Sunset Ridge Elementary School costs a different amount than tutoring for an undergrad focusing on applied statistics at the University of Wisconsin - Madison.

Similarly, who you decide to study with can influence what you pay. If you opt for one-on-one sessions, your instructor can customize each lesson plan to your specific areas of opportunity. If you choose to work with a group, your peers can help you overcome any learning obstacles that arise. Both options represent great ways to further your understanding of academic concepts, and Varsity Tutors also provides comprehensive small group classes to affordably supplement any tutoring plan.

A private teacher in Madison can slow things down and give struggling students an opportunity to catch up with their peers or move more quickly to keep high-achievers engaged in the learning process. If you would like more information about private instruction, including what the services you're interested in might cost, please reach out to one of our Educational Directors to discuss your needs in greater detail.

Where can I find a private tutor in Madison?

If you attempted to find a tutor in Madison on your own, you would be solely responsible for making sure that your coach has the academic expertise you're looking for, the communication skills you want, and the availability to accommodate your scheduling needs. It takes a lot of effort, and the smart choice is to simply let the expert Educational Directors at Varsity Tutors match you with a great tutor in as little as 24 hours.

If your child has a hard time sitting down and studying after school, we'll find you a tutor who understands how to help them burn off some energy beforehand. If you can't seem to find the notes you need to review, we'll connect you with an organization expert who can help you keep track of your materials.

We will even find you a Madison tutor who you can study alongside without leaving home. Our Live Learning Platform is a virtual classroom that you can access on a variety of computers and internet-enabled devices, enabling you to choose your preferred learning environment. Likewise, a tutor can provide test-taking tips to help you put your best foot forward on the ACT Plus Writing. We will also find you test prep help for exams like the GMAT, LSAT, MCAT, and GRE as well as professional certifications that can help you land a new job or negotiate a higher salary.

A private teacher in Madison can even support your homeschooling efforts. If you lack experience designing lesson plans, a tutor can show you how to create one that anticipates your student's needs. Your tutor can also step in and teach any material you don't feel comfortable presenting. You will also gain access to our Learning Lab: a variety of resources designed to help students and their parents with homeschooling. For example, our Learning Lab includes adaptive assessments you can use to identify your student's strengths and any areas of opportunity for improvement. You might not think that you need a professional tutor to help you homeschool your children, but those who have tried it seldom go back.

What is the selection process for tutors in Madison and how does it work?

There are no agencies responsible for certifying each tutor in Madison, so you don't always know what you're getting if you find an instructor by yourself. At Varsity Tutors, we use an extensive screening process that filters out many candidates so you can trust all of the information you receive during your sessions.

We begin by ensuring that each candidate has a wealth of knowledge about everything they teach. Local schools such as Middleton High School and Waunakee High School have rigorous curricula, and we strive to make sure that tutors are prepared for it. We also verify each instructor's communication skills to ensure that they can effectively convey information to their students.

Furthermore, we look for instructors who are great at identifying why a student may be struggling with a particular concept, allowing them to address the root cause of an issue as opposed to its symptoms. We also emphasize enthusiasm at every stage of our screening process because dedicated, passionate instructors provide more valuable support to their students. Finally, we double-check each candidate's schedule so you don't have to deal with annoying cancellations.

Whether you or your student need an extra academic edge or you're falling behind academically, a tutor in Madison can help you reach for your educational goals. Sign up online or by telephone right now to experience the difference that private instruction can make for yourself.

Tutoring review by Domenic in Madison, WI
We began this session by doing the harder math problems. The student did well. I had her do another math problem set without my help. She did well, and hopefully gained more confidence in herself. We then did a few reading passages just to brush up on it before our last session. I left her with a little bit of math practice to do before our next session.

The student started with a worksheet from class on divisibility, which she did not understand at all when we started. We worked through similar examples so I could show her how to figure them out. I also showed her some tricks to help her out. She then finished her homework on division, which she did very well on.

The student worked on creating a long vowel sound by using two vowels together. She used plastic letters to create words by adding a consonant in front of the two letter combinations.

Today the student and I went over the basics of SAT math, including number theory, operations, and basic word problems. He had some issues setting up the problems to solve them, but by the end of the session, we had the beginning of a systematic approach in place. Next time we will begin going over algebra.

Tutoring review by Arpita in Madison, WI
We covered problems with radicals. I first reviewed some of the problems that her teacher did in class and then we worked on the practice problems. I taught the student an easier way to factor large numbers and simplify roots. She quickly learned that technique and was able to apply that to other problems. She initially had difficulty with fractions with roots, but after 1-2 examples, she learned how to solve them. I first showed her how to do a problem, and then had her do it to make sure the information was retained.
