Study Skills and Organization Tutoring review by Ivana in San Rafael, CA
Today the student and I reviewed the quiz she took last week on photosynthesis, which she received an 80 on (4 out of 20 questions incorrect). She said she ran out of time at the end so we will work on her time management skills in the near future. We also went over a lab on stomata and guard cells that she did in class. We also finished going over photosynthesis (light dependent and light independent reactions), and reviewed cellular respiration. Overall the session was successful and the student understood the material.

Study Skills and Organization Tutoring review by Brittany in San Rafael, CA
The student had a history map she needed filled out. We spent the entire time working on figuring out the parts of Europe that corresponded to the key. This was mostly concerning the parts of Europe that was followed under what religion in 1600 as well as the locations of various bodies of water. We spent a lot of time trying to find the specific information in her text book. The purpose of this worksheet was to create a good set of notes to be used on her test the following day. Her biggest struggles were the locations of the bodies of water. I taught her some techniques to help her remember these in the future. I did not see any of her grades, but we did discuss how she is doing in all of her classes. She feels that she is doing relatively well in most of them. Her biggest issues are the language barriers. I did not leave her with extra practice because this was going to be tested on the next day. She did not seem to need help in other classes at that time.

The student and I studied for his Social Studies final exam. I have not seen any grades to note progress. He understands the material and knows how to organize his time effectively to study. I left him with a guideline of materials he should study each day before the exam.

The student reviewed his science exam and was provided a worksheet to complete as a supplement to the review. He was able to comprehend and complete the worksheet with accuracy. The student completed a computer assignment that required analyzing a website for detail and information presentation. He also started his review for his test by going over the notes he has taken in class. Both students were provided guiding questions as well as questions for comprehension.

The student informed me that he had an upcoming poetry competition, so I requested that he present his poem to me aloud. I gave feedback regarding his eye contact and stage control. Afterwards, we completed his philosophy homework, which primarily required generating questions for class discussion regarding 'utility.' I can tell he really enjoys this class.
