How can a Science tutor help you?

If your child is struggling in his or her science class, Varsity Tutors' educational directors can identify a private science tutor in Sterling Heights who will address all of their science concerns. Science allows for students to learn all about the biological, chemical, physical, and technological world. With a great foundation in science, children will be able to understand the world around them, understand how science plays a crucial role in society, and develop survival and problem-solving skills. If your son or daughter is having trouble in their science class, Varsity Tutors' educational directors in Sterling Heights, MI, can locate a tutor who might help your youngster excel in science.

Working with a private tutor provides a number of benefits to your child. Their tutor will be able to focus exclusively on them. Unlike in a traditional classroom setting, private one-on-one tutoring eliminates competition between students to gain their teacher's attention and assistance. Your son's or daughter's tutor will be able to provide feedback to both you and your child. This allows for you to see how your youngster's progressing in their sessions. It also allows for your student to see which areas they need to pay more attention to and which areas they are performing well in. Another benefit to private tutoring is the environment in which your child could be learning. Their private tutor will make sure the learning environment is distraction-free, relaxed, and comfortable. In turn, your youngster could feel at ease learning, asking questions, and going over material which they may need to revisit to gain a firm understanding.

Science Tutoring review by Melinda in Sterling Heights, MI
Today the student and I reviewed for her exam that she is retaking on Monday. She had her previous exam, so I went over every problem in detail. The test is mainly on sig figs and unit analysis. Overall, the session went well. I think she understands the concepts better. I tried to give her some of the tips that I use to approach chemistry problems, such as drawing pictures, writing down all the info we know and what we need to know, and paying special attention to units. We will continue our review on Wednesday.

Science Tutoring review by Colin in Sterling Heights, MI
We covered basics and regulation of glycolysis, enzyme deficiencies, and the pyruvate dehydrogenase complex. The student didn't struggle with most of the material, but rather wanted help conceptualizing some of the information, especially on the more cluttered/ complicated slides. The student had done lots of outside studying and was very well prepared. I included ways to break down metabolic pathways into numbered steps, and how to write them out repeatedly in order to memorize them.

During the session, I realized that the student did not know how to do scientific notation without her calculator. I decided she needs to first understand scientific notation first before going any further in dimensional analysis. We will cover that at the next session.

Science Tutoring review by Eduard in Sterling Heights, MI
The student has an exam next Friday for unit 2. We reviewed the compounds and the polyatomic ions that he needs to know by heart. He knows them well, but still needs to review them so he can recall them right away. We then reviewed percent composition, and started previewing how to find empirical and molecular formulas. He was attentive and engaged during the session. We will meet again before his test.
