I've tutored students up to the sophomore college level and I'm an ace at helping them write and edit essays as well as developing better writing skills. I'm patient and I strive to move my students toward independent learning. I understand that for some people writing or learning English can be difficult, but my goal is to create a fun, engaging one-on-one session.I recently received my TESOL/TESL/TEFL Certification through Oxford Seminars at the University of Illinois at Chicago campus. I also have four years of professional writing experience as a journalist. In April 2013 I won a Colorado Press Association Award for Best Health Feature. I have a B.S. degree from the Ithaca College Park School of Communications (3.8 cumulative g.p.a.). I am not fluent in Spanish, but I did study the language for two years while in college. I'm currently available for short or long-term tutoring and live in the NW part of Chicago.

My friends and work peers know me as one who always carries a hardcopy book and a kindle tablet. And if they saw the backseat of my car, they would observe a mini bookcase, with some of my favorite books. I have a deep passion for learning. Accordingly, I believe whole hearted in education. It enriches the human situation and serves one for a better life. I wish my students - sometimes in poor districts - a great life! Education and learning is a catalyst for this. I have taught all grade levels from 1st grade through 12th grade in English Language Arts. I have also been a high school Dean of Discipline and an Elementary school principal.

When I was there and learning any new information or studying for a test, I always ended up speaking aloud as if I was teaching a classroom. If this does not cut it, I have worked with students from elementary through high school to meet their educational goals through various volunteer organizations in college.
