Math Tutoring review by Rodney in Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, IN
The student has had a change in his class that I believe will be a benefit to him. They are using the flipped classroom model, which benefits his style of learning. I am here as an extra resource, should he find any difficulties.

Math Tutoring review by Richard in Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, IN
The student has his algebra final in less than two weeks. He has four units of material on the final. We began working together on Unit 4, so we will focus on the first three, and then finish with the fourth. We began with Unit 1. This unit includes equations in one or more variables, graphing, slopes, writing, and graphing equations in three forms. We reviewed his Quiz 1 and 2 and Unit 1 exam. We developed two questions for him to ask in class. He is expecting his teacher to give the class a review packet. If she doesn't, we will continue with our plan for reviewing material.

The student has his quiz tomorrow on Chapter 7 and a final exam (chapters 1-7) next Wednesday. We went over a few examples problems and concepts from select parts of all the chapters, and then we worked through some word problems he had particular questions about.

Math Tutoring review by Ben in Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, IN
The student has now moved on to real algebra, where she is not only using order of operations to add and divide from both sides, but multiply and divide by fractions to solve for a given variable. She needed some practice with combining like terms properly, but generally she answered very accurately and is having less trouble now that she doesn't have as much of the burden of manual multiplication to deal with.

Math Tutoring review by Brandon in Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, IN
The student has steadily been improving her word problem skills! When we first began working on these types of problems, she would quickly get frustrated. Now she has learned how to "digest" each piece of information and translate it into a simple math problem. The main focus of this unit has been on graphing and evaluating linear functions. Since she said she didn't understand the difference between the three types of equations, I had her rewrite each equation and explain how it is used. This repetition technique really hit home for her and has allowed her to be more independent while completing her homework. Keep up the great work!

Math Tutoring review by Rebecca in Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, IN
The student hasn't had her math class yet this week, so we worked on material she'll cover tomorrow in class. We went over her notes about rational exponents, and then she was able to complete her homework as well as several extra and more advanced questions. She caught on really quickly to the topic and was able to solve the problems with little assistance by the end of the assignment. We had a little extra time at the end of the session, so we went back to the previous chapter on radical rules and did a couple of problems. She is also confident on the previous chapter's topic. Our next tutoring session is scheduled for next Tuesday at the same time.
