The Avon School System

Avon is a small suburb of Indianapolis, Indiana, with around 15,500 residents. It’s an excellent family town that provides proximity to a large city’s amenities. The Avon Community School Corporation oversees the area’s public schools, serving approximately 9,400 students in its 12 schools.

Varsity Tutors can connect you with tutors in Avon who can enhance your child’s education regardless of what grade they are in, or even if they’re studying in college. They offer assistance in virtually any subject throughout their academic career. The attention and support provided by a private tutor could make a big difference in a student’s future.

Avon Tutoring can help students as they prepare for various state tests. To see how well the schools in the Avon area are preparing students for these assessments, review the chart below.

Avon Test Scores

Standardized exams take particular preparation, as even students familiar with the content can get tripped up by the format of the test. A knowledgeable Avon tutor can help students with both content and strategies to help them demonstrate their potential on exams like the SAT, ACT, GRE, LSAT, or other admissions tests. They can also help students prepare for the Indiana Student Assessment Program, or ISTEP+. These exams are administered throughout the student’s school years, testing English language arts, math, social studies, and science. There are also assessments specifically for students taking algebra 1, biology 1, and English 10.

There are other ways your child can benefit from working with a private tutor. An Avon tutor can provide them with the individual attention they may need to help them truly understand the subject they’re studying. Tutors use information about your student’s learning process to choose teaching methods that resonate with your child. By providing a safe learning environment, a caring tutor can help your student overcome any anxiety they are facing.

Avon schools provide students with a solid education, but almost every student faces learning challenges at some point. To see how the best high schools in the Avon area compare to the rest of the state, see the table below.

Session Summaries by Tutors

Tutoring review by Joe in Avon, IN
We covered the Null hypothesis, Type I and II errors, and relationships between the sample and the population. She was able to articulate the concepts after practice problems and short explanations were provided. We reviewed her homework set from last week and looked through the study guide the instructor provided for next week. We will continue to work in our next session on a study guide for the midterm that will be given next week.

Tutoring review by Brent in Avon, IN
The student started the session by reporting her stellar score (98 percent) on her last math test. She is right to be thrilled with this result, as it means that she not only mastered the salient processes/skills involved, but also avoided small mistakes and typos. Today, we completed two online homework assignments over content whose in-class coverage she was absent for. However, she navigated the polynomial multiplication and division we covered (sections 6.3 and 6.4) quite skillfully. By the end of the session, she seemed thoroughly proficient at polynomial multiplication and division. As a bonus, she is even beginning to solve some of the arithmetic in her head and she's getting nearly all of them correct.

Tutoring review by Miriam in Avon, IN
I gave the student a test that I created over the concepts we reviewed recently. After she completed the test, we reviewed it in-depth. We also reviewed her English packet for her school test on Wednesday. It was a good session.

Tutoring review by Benedetto in Avon, IN
There was only one new topic to cover today, and with this we finished all the content of the student's first midterm exam. He needs a bit of extra practice before the exam, but he has sufficient time for it.

The student had a test on Wednesday so we went over the chapter review. We focused on piecewise functions and quadratic transformations. We also went over some word problems with quadratic equations.

Tutoring review by Kanika in Avon, IN
We covered simplifying exponents. The student is struggling with retaining the information and identifying the steps to solve. She has the option to get extra help from her teacher during study break, and I've encouraged her to do this twice a week. She has my contact information. I need her to let me know what she is studying so I can be better prepared to assist her.
