If you've been looking into professional Las Vegas GMAT prep, Varsity Tutors can set you up with your choice of a live class or private tutoring to help you pursue your full potential. The Graduate Management Admission Test, or GMAT, is a high-stakes test written with the needs of graduate-level business programs in mind. If you hope to attend a prestigious local business school such as New Mexico Highlands University or the University of Nevada, Las Vegas - Lee Business School, it behooves you to put your best foot forward on this test.
The GMAT is much more of a practical exam than the more academic tests you may have taken in the past, as every concept assessed correlates with a real-world skill employers are looking for. Studying for the exam on your own provides you with no recourse if you're confused, and you have to worry about working with out-of-date materials. Instead, let us find you a Las Vegas GMAT prep course or a private instructor so that you know your test prep is up to date!
What subject areas does my Las Vegas GMAT preparation need to cover?
The GMAT is a digital exam consisting of a total of four sections: an Analytical Writing Assessment, Integrated Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, and Verbal Reasoning. Test-takers may choose how they wish to begin the test, whether you want to get your essay out of the way or start with something easier to boost your self-confidence. The GMAT utilizes a Computer-Adaptive Testing (CAT) format that allows the computer to select your next question as a response to how you answered previous items. This can take some getting used to, making formal test prep a wise decision if you hope to do well on the exam.
Another advantage of formal test prep is the ability to study the necessary concepts section-by-section. For example, the Analytical Writing Assessment requires test-takers to compose an essay evaluating the merits of a provided argument. You'll need critical reasoning skills to understand what you need to say, and communication skills in order to express yourself effectively. You only have 30 minutes to compose your entire response, so creating an outline before you try to start writing is a smart idea.
The GMAT's Integrated Reasoning section measures how well you can apply classroom learning within a business context. It is a multiple-choice section, and you have 30 minutes to answer 12 questions. It's harder than it sounds though, as most of the items require more than one response. There are four principal types of questions on this portion of the exam: multi-source reasoning, two-part analysis, graphical interpretation, and table analysis. It's probable that you haven't worked with questions like these before, so reviewing some sample problems should be a part of your Las Vegas GMAT prep.
The exam's Quantitative Reasoning section measures your quantitative problem-solving, analytical thinking, and data interpretation skills. You have 62 minutes to answer a total of 31 multiple-choice questions that can be split into two distinct types: data sufficiency and problem-solving. Data sufficiency items measure how well you can analyze what you need to solve a problem, while problem-solving questions entail using data to solve math problems.
The test's Verbal Reasoning section measures your understanding of the mechanics of the English language. You have 65 minutes to answer 36 multiple-choice questions that can be split into three types: sentence completion, reading comprehension, and critical thinking. Sentence completions require you to select the most grammatically accurate phrase from the choices provided. Reading comprehension questions measure how well you remember what you read, including your ability to use inference to learn information that isn't directly stated. Critical reasoning items measure your ability to formulate and evaluate arguments and plans of action.
How can expert Las Vegas GMAT prep help me study for the test?
As noted above, we can help you find two different test prep services. If you choose a Las Vegas GMAT prep class, you'll study with a knowledgeable instructor vetted by Varsity Tutors. They will be a great communicator, and will have the GMAT knowledge necessary to answer any questions you have. Class sessions also take place on a live virtual platform, giving you the convenience of studying online without compromising efficacy.
You will not be your instructor's only student, and that's a good thing. You can work with your classmates to foster a collaborative learning environment that may help all of you develop a more comprehensive understanding of the material. For example, you can exchange ideas on how to outline your Analytical Writing Assessment essay while still leaving enough time to write. Alternatively, you could get some tips on how to work with disparate information sources on the Integrated Reasoning section's multi-source reasoning problems. You also split the cost of your teacher with the other students, allowing all of you to get tremendous value for your money. You can even book one-on-one study time with your teacher if you need a little extra assistance.
Alternatively, a private instructor can provide individualized attention centered around your preferred learning style. If you're confident about the Quantitative Reasoning section but a little more apprehensive with Verbal Reasoning, your instructor can concentrate on the latter to improve your study efficiency. Working with a private instructor also allows you to learn at your own pace, as you'll never need to leave a topic behind until you are comfortable doing so.
We understand how busy you are, so all of our test prep options are designed with the value of your time in mind. If you choose a class, you may choose between two- and four-week programs to best suit your needs. We also start new class sessions every week, so it's always a good time to get in there and start pursuing your academic goals. If you choose a private instructor, sessions take place on our proprietary Live Learning Platform so that you don't need to worry about a commute. You are also in control of when every session begins and ends to mitigate scheduling conflicts.

Having a degree in chemistry with emphases in mathematics and environmental science, I am meticulous about understanding the material itself as well as understanding why the material applies to you in your own personal life. With this in mind, I hope I can assist you not only in bettering your grades, but also understanding the world around you.... The techniques would vary from student to student. For some students, a logic-based derivation of the material works best (mathematical proofs, scientific research, etc.), while for others, practical application in their everyday lives works best (using mathematics to do taxes, science behind vaccines, etc.), while still others work best with rogue practicing of problems (working problems at the end of chapter, creating new problems, etc.).

In my free time I enjoy watching all kinds of sports, reading, playing board games, going to concerts, and spending time with my friends, family, and 4-pound Chihuahua Pinkie.... My teaching philosophy is essentially that all students have the capacity and desire to learn.
