Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I had a good session today where we went over some of her homework. She seems to be gaining more facility with the material, and was able to complete a lot of programs during our session. She also had the opportunity to retake two tests that she was disappointed with the first time around, and has now raised her grade to around an 85 in the class. This is a great improvement! I am pleased with her progress, and I look forward to our continued work together."
"The student and I spent today's session going over her practice quiz, a test she took in class, and some code segments she was assigned for homework. We reviewed concepts including if/else statements, for/while loops, and nested loops. I am happy to see that for the most part she is able to recognize where she has made mistakes and how in many respects, breaking down the questions into real-life components will help her carefully parse through the code she writes without making minor errors. We spent much of the session working on a new code segment that involved rolling two dice randomly an arbitrary number of times and calculating the possibility of them both ending up as 1. This example drew on a variety of concepts including random number generation, summation, and then averaging of the numbers. I look forward to working with her as she continues working through her practice assignments and bringing in new concepts while building on previous ones."
"The student and I first reviewed concepts we covered in session 1. He was able to demonstrate his understanding of these previously discussed concepts. We moved on to new concepts where he had expressed interest in learning, i.e. bookmarking, Windows 10 upgrade, and enhancing the use of Google. We then covered other topics, and discussed the benefits of each. As in the first session, he was prepared, engaged, and showed understanding of the topics."
"I had a fantastic final session with the student. She and I recapped our work on transferring photos from her iPad to computer, continued to work on organizing her Gmail folders, and researched photo printers. Wishing her the best of luck going forward!"
"We went over some conditional formatting work within Excel, as well as some other formatting tips and tricks."
"We are working on getting a legal blackline master using MS Word to compare and combine two documents. I am working on a list of possible topics that we can cover to increase the student's proficiency. He is working on obtaining an exemplar legal document for us to use in our next session."
