I recently retired after 30 years in journalism; 26-1/2 years as editor of two local newspapers. I have mentored and coached many reporters and writers over the years. After graduating from college, my career started as a middle school teacher. I also taught English as a second language in Japan and Minnesota before gravitating to journalism. I have lived in several states and 3 foreign countries.

Although I spend a lot of time with "my nose in the books," I pounce on any excuse to go outdoors during my free time. I am a driven and passionate learner myself, currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Biology and Spanish at Clark University. I'm a recent PhD graduate in Bioengineering in the Boston area. My thesis involved nanoparticles and bacterial infections, but as a biomedical engineer I've had training in circuits, mechanics, some programming, chemistry and biology.
