Recent Tutoring Session Reviews

Tutoring review by Michael in Brockton, MA
I spent the beginning of my first session with the first student familiarizing myself with the material he has so far covered.  We dove into the material he is currently covering, the relationships between different measures regarding circles, by reviewing some homework problems with which he had difficulty.  He grasped the concepts very quickly and needed little instruction, just little pushes.  He seems very diligent and I think we will make great progress. The second student and I spent most of our session covering her current math material regarding percentages.  She quickly grasped the concepts and needed little instruction.  We also went over her science homework which dealt mostly with multiplying and converting units.  She again answered just about all of the questions right.  We will continue to work on her conceptual understanding of the problems as they become more complex.

Tutoring review by Salome in Brockton, MA
Worked with the student today on reading comprehension. He had some trouble writing complete sentences. Didn't understand the concept of including the question in the answer. Besides that, did really well. Knew what he was reading and knew the answers to his questions. Also knew all the spelling words.

Tutoring review by Seyed in Brockton, MA
The student and I met from 9:10 to 11:10. We spent time initially going over strategies for the reading section. She has been having some difficulty with the comprehension of the passages. We went over some of the passages that have been problematic for her, using strategies for comprehension and using some of the simple questions to provide hints for passage comprehension. We also reviewed the language and math section problems that she had missed. We are set to meet again on Saturday morning.

Tutoring review by Elyse in Brockton, MA
We discussed the student's strengths and weaknesses. She says math is her best subject, and while reading used to be her worst, she now thinks English is her worst. We talked about reading each option as if it were in the passage. We will try to figure out if it improves her score enough to make it worthwhile. For next week she will do the science section of test 3. I will need to get her more tests since she has none left from her test prep guide. Our next meeting will be on April 14.
