What can Denver MCAT preparation help me review?
When preparing for an exam as comprehensive as the MCAT, it's best to approach your studies with a detailed, structured plan to guarantee that you will review the appropriate content that might be covered in the exam. The MCAT contains four different sections: Chemical and Physical Foundations of Biological Systems, Critical Analysis and Reasoning Skills, Biological and Biochemical Foundations of Living Systems, and Psychological, Social, and Biological Foundations of Behavior. You will have 6 hours and 15 minutes to complete the entirety of the computer-based exam. Here, we will break down each of the sections of the test to give you a better idea of the subject material you can expect to encounter on the MCAT.
In the Chemical and Physical Foundations of Biological Systems section, you will be tasked with answering 59 questions in 95 minutes. This section focuses on the functions of the human body's tissues, organs, and organ systems as well as the chemical and physical principles of living systems. Having an understanding of concepts in general chemistry, organic and inorganic chemistry, introductory physics, biology, and basic biochemistry pertaining to the mechanical, physical, and biochemical functions of the human body will be necessary for this section.
The Critical Analysis and Reasoning Skills portion of the exam will measure your verbal reasoning, reading comprehension, and analytical skills by asking you to analyze provided passages that may come from a variety of disciplines in the social science and the humanities. You will face nine passage-based sets of questions, totaling 53 questions in all. With 90 minutes to work through this section, it will be essential to read and work in an efficient manner. Having a firm grasp on the conventions of the English language, an ability to decipher meaning in a text, and extrapolate ideas from a passage to new contexts will help you succeed in this section.
The Biological and Biochemical Foundations of Living Systems section tests your knowledge in general chemistry, organic chemistry, introductory biology, and basic biochemistry. To answer the given questions, you must combine your knowledge of these subjects with your scientific inquiry and reasoning skills. Understanding the relationship between cell and organ systems and how they, for example, work together to accomplish processes like growing and reproducing, will help you navigate this section in an informed, confident manner.
In the Psychological, Social, and Biological Foundations of Behavior section, you will be tested on skills that allow one to serve a diverse population, understand behavioral impact on health, and diagnose mental health issues, among other things. You will have 95 minutes to answer 59 questions that will test your subject knowledge in biology, introductory psychology, and introductory sociology. To succeed in this portion of the test, you will need a thorough understanding of human behavior, self-perception, and how social and cultural differences affect well-being, among other things.

Our online platform is intuitive and easy to use, so even if you've never taken an online course before, there won't be much of a learning curve. If you're struggling to apply sociological concepts to real-life scenarios, you can schedule one-on-one time with your instructor to focus specifically on your area of need. Classroom time may also be utilized to exchange ideas and expand your understanding of certain subjects by studying with a diverse set of peers. New two- and four-week sessions begin weekly, so you can jump in whenever you're ready without feeling like you've missed the boat.
