If you are looking for professional Tulsa MCAT prep, Varsity Tutors can help you get on the right track. Medical students applying to schools in the Tulsa, Oklahoma, area, such as the Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences, can benefit from enrolling in an MCAT preparation class or studying with a private instructor.
Almost all medical schools in the United States look at scores achieved on the Medical College Admission Test when considering applications from potential students. The test can help admissions officers gain some insight into how knowledgeable the student is and how likely they are to be able to keep up with the pace of studies at that particular school.
What do I need to know about the MCAT?
There are four sections on the MCAT. Each section is important, and each one has its own score. In addition, the scores are also combined to give you a general MCAT score. This will all be considered by the admission boards of medical schools you are applying to.
The first section is called Chemical and Physical Foundations of Biological Systems. This section contains 59 questions, for which you will have 95 minutes. Fifteen questions are independent, but the others are based on 10 different passages. Some things you should know for this section include the periodic table and chemical reactions. You should also know things such as basic biology, chemistry, physics, and biochemistry.
The next section is called Critical Analysis and Reasoning Skills. For this section, you will have 53 questions and 90 minutes to answer them. There will be nine passages you will be presented with, with a set of five to seven questions for each passage. You will have to know things such as compositional elements and what meaning can be inferred from them. You may have to assess how new information can affect the information that was presented in a passage. There are no specific topics that you have to know for this section, even though various topics will be presented to you in the passages. Instead, this section will focus on your analysis and reasoning skills.
The next section is called Biological and Biochemical Foundations of Living Systems. There will be 59 questions, and you will have 95 minutes to get through them all. Fifteen questions will be independent, while the others will be based on a series of 10 passages with sets of four to six questions for each. Some concepts that you will be required to know for this section will include things such as how cells and organs work together and by themselves to do things such as sensing their environment and responding to their current environment, acquiring energy and materials, adapting to different environments, and maintaining their own internal environment.
The next section is called Psychological, Social, and Biological Foundations of Behavior. Again, you will have 95 minutes for 59 questions, 15 of which will be independent, while the others will be based on 10 passages in sets of four to six questions for each. Some of the things that will be asked about in this section will be human well-being and how it can be affected by things such as access to resources and social stratification, as well as how various psychological and social issues can influence human perception and reactions.
Altogether, there will be six hours and 15 minutes of testing time, but you'll be sitting for around 7 and a half hours on the day of the exam. The test will be taken on computers. Questions will be presented in a multiple-choice format.
What kind of Tulsa MCAT prep can I enjoy?
When it comes to preparing for the Medical College Admission Test, Varsity Tutors provides two options. Some students opt to enroll in a Tulsa MCAT prep course. Students can choose between the quick two-week course or the four-week course. Regardless of which course you would prefer, there are new sections starting every week, so you won't have to wait long before starting your new course.
There are many benefits to reviewing the information covered on the MCAT in a Tulsa MCAT prep class. One benefit is that you can study together with other serious medical students. You will get a chance to interact with them, share ideas, and learn from them. Your instructor is also an expert on the MCAT, and they will be covering the material in depth while providing you with insight into strategies to help you maximize your potential.
Another popular option is signing up for private instruction with a Tulsa MCAT tutor. This kind of preparation has many benefits of its own. One benefit is the sheer convenience and flexibility that this option offers. A private educational mentor can study with you at any time online, and you can also opt for in-person tutoring at a location of your choice.
The educational benefits of tutoring are numerous. For one, you can study at your own pace. If you feel as if a class would go to fast for you or cover things you already know well, then studying with a private instructor may be a better option. Your private instructor can cater sessions to your particular areas of need as well as your learning style, modifying the way they teach concepts to help you learn more effectively. You focus more of your time on topics where you need the most help with a private mentor.
Some students may feel as if going with both choices is the best option. This way, you can have the best of both worlds.

...my career. During this period I was responsible for calculating molar concentrations for solution, medical dosing, determine number of cells in a microbe plate and complicated scientific formulas. I started tutoring math and science for a tutorial company and found that I loved it. I love seeing students make progress in our tutorial sessions. I was happy to know that I can help students to be more confident in themselves and their abilities.... My philosophy of tutoring evolved from many years of tutoring experience. As I reflect on my beliefs regarding tutoring and learning, my mission as a tutor is threefold: To promote positive learning. To spark students enthusiasm for learning. To provide a strong foundation for lifelong learning. To accomplish this, I enjoy a wide variety of strategies based on essential mathematical and science principles, learning theory, diversity issues and instructional planning and assessment.

I have the perspective of a student trying to understand, not a teacher trying to preach. I love working with people from the ground up; we start at the comfort zone and work our way to improvement. I know I don't know everything, so I'm excited to learn as well!... Start where you are and work up from there.
