Award-Winning AP English Literature and Composition Tutors serving New Haven, CT

I am looking to tutor students of any age in all English related areas and most music courses and content. I love to share my knowledge with others, and I wish to do that with the students I may reach through Varsity Tutors.

...European Studies, with a focus on history, literature and philosophy, specifically 20th century history and colonial studies. I also spent a semester abroad in France and went on to work there for several months. Since graduation, I have traveled extensively throughout Europe and am currently working several part-time jobs in New Haven with hopes of pursuing a career in urban development. I am passionate about learning and helping others realize their full potential!

I believe an instructor should make a subject exciting and interesting. Being positive, pleasant,and humorous is important. Maya Angelou put it the right way: "People will forget what you said. People will forget what you did. But they will never forget how you made them FEEL." My goal is to make a student feel something positive, then associate that with information. They won't forget that.

I am currently studying Electrical and Computer Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University. I have been tutoring math since high school and have experience tutoring in elementary school math, SSAT math, and high school algebra. I like to help students visualize solutions to problems and give them silly tricks that helped me understand and remember tough concepts.

I think tutoring is rewarding because I enjoy seeing others master topics they once found difficult! I am also a native Spanish speaker and speak three languages fluently--English, Spanish, and Galician. Through the Jesuit Education I received at Fairfield University, I am confident that I have the ability to tutor anyone in the language and literature of English. I also am able to proofread and help edit any English assignment because of my passion for English. I also have many skills including understanding of literature, and grammatical writing, proofreading, and editorial work. These qualities make me a great tutor for you, and or, your child's needs.
